I've just changed mine to a Varta unit. I am an absolute biff with anything technical and even I managed it. The only snag was the varta is a bit taller, so the bracket doesn't fit anymore so I'll have to get some Longer screw things. Car was fine afterwards- quick flash of HDC not analysable on first Start but quickly cleared. Only needed to reset the clock. Battery was about 71 from batteries4cars with next day delivery.
Simple job.
Sorry can't answer the length question, but there is a little flex in the battery bay to take a slightly longer one.
Cheers
Neil
Think you might find that the fixing rods fit into holes that are higher in the cradle. As i said in a previous post Landrover fit Varta Batteries as Standard. 2.7 and 3.0 Are fitted with a 90amp 950amps(SAE)150 RC(mins) £69.80 From Jagland itisme

Hey Harry

Jagland did not have that battery and offered another which was not the same spec and only 80ah.

Due to issues i decided to go with this battery - It seems to be the correct spec just the CCA is 720 and 90ah The company is pretty good and know their batteries + wanted to keep it the same 90ah which seems to be the important figure:

should arrive tomorrow.

Thumbs Up

Just to add my new battery is working perfectly, cold starts the car in like a second. 100AH 900CCA for £85

And Dhups I think 720CCA will not be enough, the original batteries come with 950. I think you will have some serious problems starting your car with that battery in this weather.

+ you spent like £7 less then me, for £7 more you could've got what I got with marginally better specs.

Cheers Karan. Thumbs Up

I've cancelled that one - may just get the same as yours as you say only £7 more.

Does the 10 extra AH make a difference??

It holds 10 more amp hours so that means a higher capacity compared to the original.

And you Defo need the highest CCA you can get in this weather.

I got t from carparts4less use the discount code SAVEME75 or SAVE75

I also had my battery die on me aswell, looked around for alternatives and found the exide battery to be sufficient.
Ordered from carparts4less too, got it for 78.99 delivered. Part number 444770176
Exactly the same battery as eurocarparts sell just without the ridiculous markup!
