What's with the great importance over living in a detached house?

Surely if you house is filling all your requirements then why move?

I don't see why everyone is giving him so much stick, I think its an interesting topic (probably get slated now)

I often work for clients that are very wealthy and I'm always curious to find out how they made their money & how well their company is doing etc, not at all from a jealous point of view, but more from an inspirational point.

I have often wondered what many of you do for a living & how big your yachts are

If you can afford it and you want one, just do it, life's to short to worry about others

Sparky, I can concur with that.

I do find other's success a motivation and I guess I was just interested to see if indeed my current financial position would put me in a position to justify a RRS.

Daz, its just a much better investment than an RRS. If I had additional money to spend, I would rather buy property than an RRS. Its up to the OP what he does, we all spend our money differently.

If he wants an RRS (sadly now he has been talked out of it) he should buy one, stuff what anyone else thinks. I never bought my RRS or any car with any thought about what anyone else thinks. I buy a car that fits my needs and that I enjoy driving. Currently, I need to tow a boat and I have one car which does both. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

One guy i know has had his nose put seriously out of joint because i have bought a RRS , Yet he smokes £20+ a day on ciggies. When i pointed out that for the money he spent on fags he could get a very nice RRS on the chuckie but he couldn't see the similarity

Several years ago i worked for a main stealer and we did Landrover, ferrari and Maserati. I can remember a young guy (probably early/mid 20s) coming in and ordering a brand new ferrari 430 spider. When he came to pick it up he brought his parents who took great delight in telling everyone that he still lived with them, paid £50 a week board and hadnt bought any new underwear for at least 5 years. Much to his embarasment

My view is that if you want something and can afford it, buy it. Life is far too short to not do what you want.

Others will form their opinions of you no matter what you drive. And which brand you drive has certain associations. In the US, for better or worse, you are what you drive.

FWIW, RRs are seen as the car for the wealthy, but when I priced out cars, a Mercedes ML equipped the same as the Sport (non SC) was $20K more, a Cayenne similarly equipped was $40K more; only a similarly equipped Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT was right around the Sport's price of mid $60s USD.

I live in an affluent area and there are many expensive marques around. Even so, RRs still get the attention, for better or worse. IMO RR is not the car to get if you want to blend in. 2013 RRS HSE Lux, Fuji White w/Silver Pkg, 5.0 V8

WHen people gave more of a s t for the environment, people would say 4x4's were "gas guzzlers" (fools) but actually there were BMW's and Mercs that were more polluting and less efficient Mike

hmm this thread is rubbish although my other half said they have this negative image im not bothered, i am different in that i could buy a car for far more than i ever spend but i hate depreciation so refuse to spend more than 15-20k max, i also pay in cash no finance, i have a dilema as i have a small house but a couple of nice cars and a nice van but have'nt moved yet as in the last 9 months my monthly income has more than trippled so its hard not to be tempted to just spend
