Been toying for months, living beyond my means?

Right, help needed!!!

The only way for me to try to work out of if I should buy a RRS is to try to get a gauge from this forum.

I LOVE the RRS but i do not want the image of it to have a negative effect socially and at work.

I would hate to be perceived as showing off, or trying to seem wealthy.

My biggest concern is whether I should be considering buying such a car and whether it is totally out of line with my lifestyle/income.

I live in a decent area, in a 4 bed-semi. a very modest, but nice house. SWMBO reckons the RRS would look stupid on our drive. I think I know where she is coming from. I often see small modest houses with very expensive cars parked out front and do think that it looks like they have their priorities all wrong.

Anyway, i've decided to try to get a poll going for the most very difficult of subjects. Gross household income.

I know, I know. Very rude and very un-British of me.

So let's see. I'll keep the income ranges quite wide. There is no need to bare ones soul. Just a guide.

What do you think?

So, to all you RRS owners on this site...help me to try to work out if i should take the plunge. What gross household income bracket do you fall in?

This should be interesting. Oh and I should add that I'm looking at £30k-32k, 2010MY, so that's kind of relative i guess.

Dobbo9,

You're missing the point of this forum and indeed of owning a rrs! it's less for what people think, how it looks on the drive etc, but the joys and beauty of the machinery that is RRS.

Perhaps you need to test drive one or three and see what you think!

Not sure I am. I have test driven three, over the past twelve months. Love the car. But, I do care what people think and I manage a large team of people at work and the image of the car i drive means a lot to me and is an important factor when choosing.

To clarify, when I say that the image is important to me I mean that I don't want to feel that I'm driving something beyond what I should be.

I do love the car, no question. I can afford to run a 3 year old one. BUT i don't want to give off the wrong impression.

Maybe i should just buy an old Fiesta!? Laughing

Maybe I'm reading into this too much?

if you really wanna pacify your work colleagues then go ahead and live their lives. but i would never make a buying decision based on what others would think of it. Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.
DONE: Meduza front bumper, AB rear bumper, AB tailpipes, calipers repainted, rear upper tailgate upgrade, side steps, AB front grille, AB side vents, rear LED lights, clear side repeaters, integrated daytime running lights, LED headlights.
TO DO: color code sills and pillars.

Mate, it's just a car, it's hardly a status symbol. If you want one, get one but don't drive around thinking you are Lord Big Knob. Remember, ther are plenty of Chav style RRS out there.

I don't look at RRS here and think that someone is rich, and they are serious dough here in Oz. Personally, I would spend the money on a detached house before I bought an RRS......you asked Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

I've never seen a more crass childish topic posted on this or any other forum , and I am glad to see that all have rebuked the OP. for it.....

Lets get back to interesting topics about the RRS - and the people who love it , not how it makes them look to others ...!

TST TDV8 HSE....Gone but not forgotten ....class act
Cayenne S diesel.....850n/m....385bhp....the danglies ...

TST717, thanks for your very valuable input. Your empathy for the views and feelings of others simply gushes from you. Thanks.

Yeah, I'm thinking that I do agree. SWMBO does make that very point. I might need to agree that she and indeed you are right. My petrol head sometimes just gets away with itself.

Thanks for the 'harsh' but valuable feedback.
