Smart Key Problem - Any ideas??

So, just went out tonight to sort my RRS out for a trip out tomorrow........and nothing, wouldn't open either when in range of the key or using the remotes Sad

Managed to finally get the boot to open and close, but the car will not recognise the smart key, even when placed under the steering column. Called LR assist and was told they couldn't get a technician to me until tomorrow morning Rolling Eyes . I was offered someone from the AA, but was told that they probably couldn't help and I should wait for a technician. Shocked

Anyone got any ideas in the meantime? ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Silly question but i will ask it anyway, have you tried the spare remote Bc Question
Try disconnecting the battery, then reconnect, see if it reset s itself. Expect a call from tracker if you do though. Wink

Ah, i see you quote remotes, so i assume you've tried the obvious.

Will wait for LR guy tomorrow. If I get bored in the morning I may try a battery disconnect. Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Outside the house, usual and known parking space? Heard of some problems recently (on here I think) where powerlines and noise had blocked the smart key electronics...

Thanks guys, well the LR tech came out and did a reset as Ady recommended and that seems to have solved it. Thumbs Up
Guy said they had had a lot of problems like this recently on Evoques, RRs's and FFRR's (he'd done 4 resets yesterday Shocked )

Said it may happen again, it may not Confused

So, were back on the road and hopefully a minor glitch, will keep you updated if it happens again.

Cheers Ady Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Hi Beancounter, as I have a MY13.5 HSE Black with the same locking system as yours, can you tell us how the Tech reset the system?, was it just a case of the battery disconnect or was it undertaken though the diagnostic port?

Dave

He disconnected both terminals, then ran a wire between both cables for around 20 seconds.
He then reset the one touch windows as apparently that gets thrown out when a reset/reboot gets done. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
