Just had LPG fitted to my 05 RRS 4.2 v8 s/c. Everything is working apart from a strange problem with the side lights which I changed a while ago to LED's.

The guy who fitted the LPG said they tapped into the canbus to fool the ecu into thinking it is running on petrol and to adjust the fuel maps. However, at night when the car is running and it automatically switches to LPG the side lights come on, even with the main light switch set to off. The only way to turn them off is to switch back to running on petrol. I usually leave the switch on auto anyway but wonder if there is anyway to fix this. Guy has tried but don't think he can actually fix it as he mentioned adding a resistor and I can't see how that would fix it.

If anyone has any ideas I will try them out.

I can't help you at all I'm afraid but where did you get it done? Have always thought about doing this once warrantee runs out. What is the approx cost/savings/mpg/performance like!? Thanks

I live in Northern Ireland and got it done over here. Cost 1500 and gives just slightly less mpg than petrol but only costs 74.9 per litre. Haven't noticed any performance difference but the system fitted will also inject petrol at high load to help maintain performance.

There are loads of horror story's on this forum about fitting LPG to the supercharge engine. I think the 4.4 engine is ok but not sure. I wish you luck with yours garyc. These vehicles are not cheap to run.  MY11 Autobiography supercharged. Santorini Black. Monaco interior. Rear screens. Privacy.

I would be very wary about anyone splicing into the CANBUS system on the car. Could end up causing nothing but grief further down the line

Try changing the LED's for CAN safe versions - they are a bit more pricey but may sort this issue for you..
