England

I've just made 3 phone call to local alignment specialists, 2 didn't even acknowledge the existence of the TTM and told me that I must have got my information wrong Rolling Eyes ......won't be gong there then Shocked .

The 3rd, ironically the people who did my car when I first got it said, that had the equipment, but had stopped using it (especially on MY12+ cars) as they found it was causing excessive wear on tyres over about 5,000 miles. They informed me that they would happily align the car in TTM, but that they would advise me not to do that as they feel it not required for the latter models.

Seemed very knowledgeable on the whole subject to be honest.

Need to get mine done at some point so I'll report back when I've had it done and had a chat with the guy. Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

It is because they are off road vehicles and the travel in the suspension when going off road is so big, they need this when the electronics kick in so the car can detect what to do at what corner when it is climbing or in ruts its all to do with center of gravity and keeping the car level as much as possible.

Not sure how having adjustable suspension helps here. The toe or camber aren't altered from the alignment settings by the system as the suspension is used. I guess they built all of the adjustments in to allow for slightly bent/pulled components over time... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Interesting BC. Not sure why setting the vehicle to TTM for the alignment should cause rear tyre wear unless they're not doing all of the adjustments correctly. I understand that there is a certain order in which the components should be adjusted. Be interesting to hear their thoughts on why TTM causes rear wear.

I look forward to your report from chatting to the chap... Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Well I've finally found somewhere who has the right kit and seems to know what they're doing, with a quote of £50 which sounds pretty good? Can't fit me in until Friday so I'll update after that

£50 sounds pretty good. I think LR charge about £160 but then they do charge £silly/hr anyway... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

60 mins seems about right depending on what needs to be done. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
