United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Bonatti Grey
Wobble at 50-55MPH

Good morning all.

Anybody else have a wobble at 50-55MPH? Very strange as it is only between this speed.
Below and above the steering wobble is not an issue.

Surely if this was balancing it would occur at all speeds?

Cheers for any assistance.

Lee.

No if its bent rims it will be at all speeds, balancing is usually speed related. Sounds like the glue got hot and your weights fell off. Had exactly same issue on Thursdsy with mine Thumbs Up 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

It could be many things, balance, mud in the wheels, buckled wheel, damaged wheel, brakes, steering rack, or rear diff.

No, vibes are not always apparent at all speeds so its not easy to track down the cause other than by elimination. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

Nope. It's a harmonic so occurs at specific speeds. Will be worse at double that speed. Steering wobble at a certain speed is usually indicative of wheel imbalance but start by checking you don't just have anything like mud adhering to the inner rims. Check your tyres for uneven wear too which might suggest you have either worn suspension components and/or need a four wheel alignment check 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

England 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Same as mine
Had
wheeles balanced
Moved wheels front to back
4 wheel tracking done ( hunter system ) no change and the tacking was well out

Now replacing front lower arms as there is play in the rear part of the arm
Also spotted the center bearing on the prop has worn/split 40% of the outer rubber so prop is moving more around more than it's ment to Big Cry will it ever end Big Cry

I'd wager its your ball joints starting to give out

Had it on the D3 (like yours but with a bigger shell) and 'twas the pesky ball joints.

can you describe the wobble a little more?

i too have had a similar experience that was bloody frightening ... as thought the car was wobbling side to side like its about to give in. also around 50-60mph

i do have worn bush and the lower arm is due replacement
also believe wheels were not aligned

are these likely the cause then?

should be going in this week for the above repairs 07 TDV8 + BAS map
