Skoda Yeti tops huh? Actually, I bet that's a great little SUV if that's what fits your needs.

X5 did well, mine has been perfect so far and the 4.0D is loosening up nicely and getting quite quick. Quite like he idea of an X6 M50D next but pricey here in Oz. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

Based on my own experience should the reliability index score not read 6.3% as opposed to 63%!

Not great news for LR (not sure they would care much either) but does clearly show they have major issues with some of their models. Interesting that Disco and RRS share a largely common platform so LR cannot deny they have made serious mistakes with this design of this generation of vehicle.

Says more about the type of people who fill in which surveys.....
I know some folk that can't buy a Hoover without referring to which magazine, so it comes as no surprise that skoda came top by all the nasily Cedrics out there! "Hmmmm, which magazine says its good, so it must be....."
Twaddle!
Over 3 years and 50k in mine and it has only cost me services!
Cheers

Codfather I think you are one of the lucky ones. Whereas we still have no car, all the expenses, etc etc.
If LR keep going with cars as faulty as these then ultimately they will fail. The consumer today is far less forgiving of faults, if the new RRS and FF, Evoque etc have similar issues then all the new customers wil dissappear as fast as they appeared. People expect, and rightly so, expensive products to not just drive well, but to be durable. Which to date the RRS is not showing evidence of as can be seen on these pages SWMBO owns this car I get to drive occasionally Smile

I dont buy that survey at all...there is a lot about who fills it in yes.

But the date bracket is significant 05-present, well there have been at least 5 major engine changes, 3 gearbox changes, 8-10 facelift improvements, so an 05 car is nothing like a 13 car.

Plus there is the warranty point...the only thing wrong with my car has been the fault the dealer caused by bricking its system - so not an issue with the car and needing new brake discs, but that didnt make it unreliable.

Finally numbers are important i would like to see the models behind the survey first and then work the relevance...i bet its low. Mike

Why don't LR release some figures of their own? As you say the survey covers a long period. JLR would have the atatistics/numbers at their fingertips. These survey don't help sales etc. So why wouldn't the manufacturer release some of their own data to repudiate these surveys. They have all warranty claims etc on record. SWMBO owns this car I get to drive occasionally Smile

I imagine Its difficult really - firstly there will be gaps in the data.

Secondly - you would be surprised, but warranty claims arent really an indicator or actual reliability Mike

IMHO, I am pretty sure a lot of the percieved problems that landrover have ARE because people expect more.
if you are having a sideways move from BMW/Merc etc ,(had so many probelems with gearbox in my ML and the dealers are rubbish) then yes you will be shocked at the agricuturalness of the build quality (rippled panels etc) ,but if you are moving up the way from ford or vauxhall then you will have less "percieved" problems (i think)
at the end of the day, it was built as an off roader (with a very expensive and sophisticated drivetrain) which it does very well.- would it sell as well if it was rubbish off road but had better quality parts for the same price?

cheers
