Who was the sales guy that handed over your motor? Every sales guy that has handed over my motors has always gone through ALL the documents with the car and ive always been shown how all the controls work on the vehicle before letting me drive away. Perhaps the hand over sales guy was having a lazy day the day you picked your motor up or LPR need to change their hand over policy. I'm guessing it wasn't James that handed over your car then. As a good will gesture they really should sort out your service book foc. |

No, it definitely wasn't james. As I say, he's been great. Even now! I know if he was there it would have been sorted within seconds.

The service book wasn't shown to me. I guess you live and learn. I'm only in my twenties so this was the first vehicle I've ever purchased from a Dealership! |

Not as strange a problem as you'd think.

Arn't ALL L/R that are on a L/R forecourt L/R approved ie all checks carried out so that it is squeaky clean with proof of all service records upto date and complete before they can put them on a L/R forecourt for sale, and class them as Land Rover Approved, otherwise they block them or pass them to other traders. |

I'm not sure how thorough they are. Within 400 miles of purchase mine needed new rear pads/discs/shoes |

James had the vehicle picked up from me (80 miles away) repaired and sent back to me!

I had a similar issue to this a while back when I bought a Subaru. The FSH turned out to be not that which is a longer story.

Not uncommon it seems - mine came from Lookers too (not LPR) and it had missed a service. They serviced it before delivery and it then needed another service within 3 months to put it back on track. Never had any problems with warranty work - and lots of it ! FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

You have my sympathy. Found myself in a slightly similar situation buying my car from an independent. The service portfolio was 'with the previous owner' after a long saga of excuses (which were so bizarre it is hard to believe they weren't true) dealer admitted service book was lost. I threatened legal action and after a bit of negotiation settled out of court with a combination of cash and a warranty. The law is strongly on your side although the value of a service history is hard to prove since there is no data. The best I could find was this survey: http://www.icmresearch.com/car-maintenance-survey basically says 35% of people wouldn't buy a car without a service history or would expect to pay 15% less for it. I strongly recommend you speak to Citizens Advice Bureau I found them extremely helpful - and its a free service.
