RRS chooses wrong gear on slow corners

Getting really bored of the programming behind the gear selection. When coming into a slow corner (especially if its uphill), then when pulling away after the corner it seems to take the rrs an age to realise that its in way too high a gear and then it jumps down a gear for acceleration.

Anyone else find this? It really does my head in.

Scotland 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

Have had the same problem on mine, went back into the dealer on Wednesday for a few warranty items one of which was the problem you described, they done a software update to the gearbox and adjusted the brake light switch which has bettered the situation but not cured it completely. I'm going to try it over the weekend and see how i feel and if still not happy then it will be back to the dealer again. Dave.

The trouble with the learning dynamic gearbox.

Re-setting it will improve the symptoms (as Morpheus has found) but it'll gradually get back into bad habbits.

I find that switching to sports briefly before a roundabout makes the gearbox more "intelligent", but I only do it on occasion, can't be bothered most of the time.

Is a design issue in the programming of the gearbox - not acceptable but little that can be done. 07MY RRS TDV6

How did you find it? I've just had that gearbox software update done, and hopefully it might sort the car out. Smile

England 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 SE Siberian Silver

Beta testing again are we?...

MY12... 8 speed gearbox... From the begining (Nov 2011) it was.. come on you.. and it changed down.
Then it seemed to get worse... come on you b**ch change.. before it changed.
so reported to dealer and they software upgraded (around May 2012 IIRC).. to... Come on... and it changed.
But after 1st service (Nov2012) I don't recall any issues or cursing! At last it seems sorted.

Also had the elec boot software updated., as it was annoying to press the blipper a few times to get boot open.
Issue has not returned, opens first time every time now.

So in 13 months, just these two issues
Smile

160 miles round trip yesterday.. dash indicated 35.6mpg... better than my wifes FL2 that I usually use ! RRS MY12 SE Siberian Silver, Ocean, Ivory and Walnut.
3.0 SDV6 256hp, 8 speed autobox with flappy paddles, Factory fitted options: Privacy glass, tow pack, heated seats, heated steering wheel, RSE, centre cool box, premium carpets, mood lighting, vision pack and memory pack.
