looking at changing car to range rover sport help please!

hi everyone im very keen on having a range rover sport as my next car hopefully within the next 12 months, i currently own a focus st500 limited edition with 320bhp and 400ftlb of torque and i love it to bits!

however i have really taken a shine to the range rover sport and cant stop looking at them so can you help me with anything to help me understand the vehicle and what to look for etc.

what sort of mpg does the supercharged v8 get compared to the diesel v8?

does mpg improve with ecu remapping?

what are the common faults with range rover sports?

any help would be great!

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

S/C = mid-high teens mpg
TDV8 = 20-26 mpg

Remapping would improve mpg if you asked for an economy map. If you ask for additional power then you're as likely to get the same or slightly worse mpg depending on how you drive it. Some people claim to see an improvement but they seem rare.

The RRS is a very different drive to a hot hatch. They're not vehicles to be chucked down a road like a hatchback is. They can cover ground very impressively but it's not as frenetic and you have to remember that you're hustling 2.5tonnes along. Understeer is your companion in these things if you try to carry too much speed. Ensure you have a good long test drive if you haven't already driven one.

As for common faults - the search system is very good on this forum Whistle

Starter for ten: suspension knock is extremely common. Whole threads about it on here. Electrical issues are also extremely common. Again plenty of threads hereabouts. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
