United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Hi All,
I've had this same fault on an off for the past week. I noticed that the last 3 times it came on I was braking lightly so I got my daughter to sit in the car and push the brake peddle down so that i could check the bulbs were all working. Here's what I found....
When the brake was pushed down normally all bulbs came on and know errors given BUT if you pushed it down slowly you could get all the way down as far as it can travel without any bulbs coming on and all the errors coming up on the dash.
I guess this means its my break peddle switch that need sorting.

Does anyone know if it's a simple DIY job to replace or does it have to go in to a dealer because something need to be calibrated?

By the way, this forum is great, I've been lurking for months and found some great help and advice on here. Bow down
Well done all.
Thanks

Brake switch has two position switches. Upper switch is activated when the pedal is touched very soft just to release cruise control but not to light the brake bulbs in back and the lower switch position is for brake lights to turn on.

Check pics in my gallery I have one there disassembled.

Part code is XKB500110

Pretty easy to change, first disconnect your battery, then you need + screwdriver to open foot panel then find pedal switch there, remove it by twisting hard, don't remember which side, you'll see. Connect the new one and I would recommend you to do hard reset before connecting battery. It's done by connecting battery cables which goes from the car together (not battery terminals, you'll see short circuit). You will need some metal extension or wrench to connect them.

This should help before going to dealer.

SportsTDV8 disassemble your old switch and take a close picture to see how it looked like from the inside.
