Removing the rear door door-card

I was changing the puddle lights in the doors. All went well until the rear left door. As I pulled the lamp out of the door, the wire came loose and flicked back inside the door. I can just feel it with a finger in the aperture so I think I'll need to pull the door-card away at the bottom to be able to get the wire back through the aperture.

The question is - how to do it. I've had a look at the instructions in Bobby's gallery:
http://www.rrsport.co.uk/gallery/albums/us...0Panel.pdf

My question is: does the plastic/rubber trim around the edge of the door-card come away with the door-card or does the door-card need to be pulled out of the trim? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Hello mate,

I had the same happen to me when I did mine. You don't need to unscrew anything...just pull the bottom part of the door card firmly towards you. This will give you enough room to comfortably get your fingers in to sort out the wire.

Sorry I can't remember exactly but I think the rubber comes with it. Just give it a good tug right at the bottom. Thumbs Up Want to do a DIY job on your car? Check out the definitive 'how to' thread in the technical section Thumbs Up

Alternatively there are 2 screws that once un-done will allow the whole card to be removed.

Watch out for the door release wire though... it'll ping off and it's a Censored to get back on (and working again)

Popped out to the vehicle at lunchtime. Used a small knife to lever the bottom corners of the door-card away. 2 clips "popped" and I was able to push the wiring back through the aperture. The wire appears to be shorter on this door than the others for some reason. A gentle but firm push on the panel reconnected the clips and I've got a working light on that door again. Total time: 1 minute. Thumbs Up

For future reference, the plasticky/rubbery trim fillet comes away with the door-card. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Good effort! That's your rear screen demister and puddle lights sorted. You'll be changing your diff/transfer box oils next Whistle Whistle Want to do a DIY job on your car? Check out the definitive 'how to' thread in the technical section Thumbs Up

Hmmm, not sure I'd go that far kav! Rolling with laughter

Gone are the days when I'd crawl under the car on my parents' drive to remove the starter motor, do an oil change or replace brake parts. Back then you could look down through the engine bay and see the road surface below. Hell, you could almost stand in the engine bay there was so much room. Not today though...

I remember a Datsun Bluebird I had - every time it went for its MoT the guy would ask if I'd fiddled with the carb screw. If it was set to run nicely it wouldn't pass the MoT so I had to give a little screw hidden round the back of the carb a quarter turn. Then it would pass the test. Ran horribly like that though. Today that would have been new sensors or a new cat or a new ecu... Big Cry

Fixed the starter motor on it with a couple of washers and some araldite; the solenoid wasn't quite throwing fully so it would throw but not power the motor to turn the engine over. 2 washers stuck on to the solenoid pin gave another 12 months of trouble free starting! Thumbs Up
