Over 100k reliability

Anyone on here running earlier 2005/06 TDV6's over the 100k mark?

What's the reliability like of a RRS of this age and mileage?

Obviously a fair amount of it is depending on how well the car has been looked after, and driven in its time leading upto its higher mileage.

Any info would be great Thumbs Up Current: 06 RR Sport HSE TDV6, Bonatti grey, black leather. Defender 90 pick up. Vito 110cdi

I'm on a my2006 hse with 155k. So far no major problems (kiss of death)
My height sensors have just played up and I snapped a driveshaft. Other than that I can't fault it. I had a s model with. 60k before this one and both drive the same.

I've got an 06 TDV6 with 137K miles and no problems. Changed front wishbones as the bushes were knocking and it's all good now. Thumbs Up

From my observations of this forum, it seems that one either gets a peach or a nail. Get the former and you wonder why LR have a bad reputation for reliability. Get a nail and you know why. Reliability surveys in various car magazines back this up. As does a recent poll on this forum: http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic29090.html which shows 40% of people had problems in the last 12 months.

My 62k mile example has had an alternator, a new starter motor, new front anti-roll bar bushes, new rear dynamic anti-roll bar, has had a CV boot replaced and a front wheelbearing replaced too.

It's been with a stealer for 2 weeks now (I think they've got more work than they can deal with and have put mine on a back burner) for another new starter motor and it has a coolant leak that might be coming from the thermostat housing. Some suggestion that it has a driveshaft seal in need of replacement and the front wishbone bushes may be in need of replacement too. Oh yes, and the rear screen demister doesn't work.

As you can tell, mine isn't in the peach category...

I don't drive it hard although the roads around here aren't in brilliant condition but that should kill starter motors or cause coolant leaks. It's done two very light days at Eastnor with LRE on the "Drive your own" days - these are little more than forest tracks etc. and certainly not car breakers; they're marketed as gentle days and for something that is supposedly built for off road use I wouldn't expect anything to break because of this light use. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

See its examples like that just make me think I should just get an E60 M5 and spend the money on fuel rather than forever replacing parts on a RRS Current: 06 RR Sport HSE TDV6, Bonatti grey, black leather. Defender 90 pick up. Vito 110cdi

RRS are like women. Some days you wonder why you bother. And then on other days you remember just why you love them.

When it's right, my RRS is a fabulous place to be. Comfortable, quick enough to make safe progress, go-anywhere-ability, good looks. It just feels right. It's the best vehicle I've owned. Thumbs Up

Good to see another MBCLUB member on here. I take it you have sold the CLS?

I have a 2007 TDV6 HSE with 49k Which i bought 2 months ago. Was planning to go for a 2010 model RRS but I spotted this lovely example at a reasonable price, no regrets so far.

My uncle used to have an E60 M5, and he would always mention just how thirsty and expensive it was to maintain. He also had a few cracked alloys replaced under warranty. He has now replaced it with a Q7. 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool

My 2005 is on about 104k had it allmost 3 years now and not had anything major drivshaft replaced (warrenty) air compressor (warrenty) rear parking sensors (warrenty) CV joint, bushes, and general discs and pads, and tyres nothing major as yet. Keep thinking about changing it for a MY10 but at the moment I heardly get to drive it.

I did drive a RRS and it did drive nice, I was surprised how well it cornered for a big car, while it wasn't quick as such, it was quick enough, but you don't buy a 4x4 for going quick do you.

It's still in the maybe pile, it seems to be a case of which of the two evils to go for - RRS or M5. I do realise they are massively different cars, but i've got a list as long as my arm of cars I want to of owned and these are the next two on the list.

Ahh hello there, yes I'm off the MBCLUB, I've turned into a bit of a forum whore lately jumping from one to the other while trying to decide on a car. Yes sold the CLS, took a while though and had more than my fare share of time wasters Evil or Very Mad

What Merc did you have before the RRS? Are you enjoying the RRS so far?

I like the look of them, but they definetly lack character.

That might not sound like a lot of parts to you, but the most I've had to replace on my last two cars have only been tyres (330cd and CLS) But i tend not to keep a car longer than a year I guess. Current: 06 RR Sport HSE TDV6, Bonatti grey, black leather. Defender 90 pick up. Vito 110cdi

I know what you mean, I hardly post over there now. I am surprised you had difficulty selling the CLS, it was a great looking car and was well spec'd.

My previous merc was a 2000 W202 C180 so quite a change lol. I still have a Merc ,well a Sprinter van.
Just bought a newish one a few days ago and have already retrofitted COMAND and reversing camera, planning to add a few more things.

Enjoying every minute of the RRS. I have to admit I never expected to like it this much. It is comfortable, practical and has loads of toys as standard.

How much are you looking to spend?[ 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool

100k Plus RRS

our TDV8 has just turned 70K and so far trouble free apart from the rear and front heated screens not working, she in the williams LR on the 4th jan to get these little problems sorted.

Previously I ran a 2008 Discovery commercial TDV6 and apart from a couple of niggles with suspension level sensors the car was a dream to own, ive moved jobs now so passed it on to another employee it now has over 180K on the clock, it was a manual car was still on the original clutch until 100K when i handed it over but now has had 3 clutches and fly wheels since.

think the RRS is like most modern cars these days with all the electronics you are bound to get some issues, but reading the forum it seems like most of the main issues are mechanical ones like the suspension bushes. Discovery TD5 commercial (gone)

Discovery TDV6 Commercial (gone)

RR Sport TDV6 SE (gone)

VW transporter 2.5 sportline (just gone)

Focus RS (dont ask) (gone)

RR Sport TDV8 HSE
