United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red
non start

Hi all

I have a 2006 2.7 TDV6, I have had the car since jan this year. sometimes when the weather is cold and damp the car will
run for a second or so when I start it. Then it cuts out and will not start it turns but will not fire up. If I leave it for an hour or so when I try again it runs fine. It has been into the Land Rover garage a couple of times and I have had the AA out to it no joy there.
There are no stored faults in the memory either. It only happens when I have to be somewhere. I would say it has done it half a dozen times now and it is starting to get on my wick and I want to sort it. The car has fuel in it I use the pre heat twice. It will be fine for a few weeks then it will do it again, and as it is getting colder it will do it more often. Any one got any ideas.

Thanks
Brett

I'm new to diesels myself but my guess would be glow plugs. Is it taking longer than usual to pre heat? It maybe that it's not getting hot enough and the cold diesel cools it down before it can light it.

Is the battery losing charge over night?

I'm just guessing - I'm sure someone with more diesel experience will come along soon.

Had the same prob with my 2006 HSE. Lucky for me the prob was solved after a new battery. To many short trips with a diesel and the battery are empty in seconds.... Thumbs Up RRS 2006 2.7 HSE

Modern diesels will start without heating due to direct injection and higher compression unless its minus stupid degrees. If it fires its not glow plugs, sounds more like damp in a plug or sensor. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜
