HOW TO... 1st of all disconnect the negative battery lead to be on the safe side......!!!!!!

Right here goes.

Heres how to fit these clusters Very Happy

Goto ebay and buy 2no of this item.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360449150191?ssP...922wt_1139

1:You need to remove the rear clusters. This is super easy. You need to open your boot and remove the 2 phillips screws holding the cluster in.

2:Then get yourself a flat screw driver and wrap some insulation tape around the tip.

3:Place the screwdriver between the cluster and the body and gently prize the cluster out

4: Gently pull the cluster forward, you will see the grey connector attached to the harness, push the tab and pull the connector apart from each other.

5: Locate PIN 5 (black common Ground) and PIN 3 (green with red trace, indicator wire) of the car loom and use a stanley blade and carefully slice away 10mm of insulation from each of the wires. You could also connect the resistor to the cluster wiring using the same pins but then you have the issue of heat transfer from the resistor. The pin numbers are identified on the back of the plug Thumbs Up

6:Strip back 25mm of the insulation from the resistor wires and twist the ends of each so they dont frey. Then wrap one end of the wire around the BLACK and the other around the GREEN/RED and solder them up. (doesnt matter which way wires of the resistor go)

7: Wait for the joints to cool and wrap them tightly in insulation tape. For those who go wadeing, i would also be tempted to cover the entire joint in either hot glue or silicone Cool

be careful of cragmire's nuts lol Laughing

8: Now to mount the resistor.. This is really personal preferance but please bear in mind, it does get HOT when the indicator or hazards are left on for some time. You dont want it to MELT anything... I personally used high temp glue in my glue gun. You can buy these from any B&Q etc for peanuts....

I located mine on the lower part of the cluster cut out just under bumper level.. Basically just bunged aload on and pressed the resister into it for 5 secs. I left my indicators on for a good 25mins and the resistor was VERY HOT but the glue was fine... It was getting a little soft but cant see it being an issue. (do this at your own risk)

And another with it in situ.

9:Push the new cluster connector into the car loom and test. Should look like this.

And as Mr Haynes would say "re-fit in reverse order".

Same for the other side.. Hope this helps Thumbs Up

Regards

Wow fantastic write up and lights look fab

How does this install differ from the plug and play light conversions available on ebay, I see they fit the resistor to the rear of the light assembly but what do they do with the wiring to make it plug and play.
