Yup, Clarkson was right, the people that design and build Land Rovers have a 'that'll do' attitude second to none, and their quality control people must be half asleep Premium brand ? (my @rse).... Found this out when I bought my D3 new 6 1/2 yrs ago. Mine had several defects in the paint, including what looked like a 'thumb print', dealer was also unsurprised. Be persistant and get things rectified to your satisfaction, or reject vehicle if you're not happy, (you wouldn't be the first). RRS TDV8 Buck Blue (no, not now in my dreams). ..........D3 TDclankety clankV6 ............BMW 318i |

Steering alignment seems to be a common one, other issues sound like you've got a proper 'Friday afternoon' car

I bought both mine from a local dealer because on both occasions they were considerably cheaper than all the others I contacted.

Through the years I've had trouble with brand new motors, things missing, faulty etc, the best way to handle this is to demand a pre-inspection when the car arrives at the garage, they look at you a bit strange and make up excuses for you not to, but I insist. Since then I've never had any thing seriously wrong.

I purchased the car from a dealer in Halifax, which is over a 100 miles from me. I went to them because they were by far the best deal. I am trying to deal with the local dealer for the problems, to save me from having to keep going to Halifax.

I got banned from BMW show rooms for 'expressing' my anger at the quality of the car I bought, it failed more times than an impotent porn star.
