How the hell do you change the front windscreen wipers?!

Treated the car to some new front wipers today, but how the hell do you lift the wiper arms up to change them? Both my front wipers will lift about 20mm from the screen but refuse to go any further, don't want to force them in case I break something!

Have checked the handbook (no mention), searched on here (no threads) and tried the rear wipers (lifts easily) - is there a trick I'm missing?!

Hi Gibbsy - thanks, but it's point 1 that is causing issues! I can only lift the wiper arm about 15-20mm away from the screen, not far enough to flick the wiper upside down! It seems to be prevented from lifting up at the hinge somehow, but both front wipers are the same...? - Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE G4 Challenge vehicle (FOR SALE)

Mike, my wiper arms can be moved approx 4 or 5" from the screen max,(not sure if LR have altered these on some models to make it awkward for owners to do this job Whistle ), but that is not enough to flip the blade over, you won't be able to do that, you'll have to angle the blade away from the arm enough to be able to press the little tab that releases the blade with your finger (or a small flat screwdriver). Best to have the new one to hand to slot in straight after removing the old one too. Thumbs Up RRS TDV8 Buck Blue (no, not now in my dreams). ..........D3 TDclankety clankV6 ............BMW 318i

Hi Texstar, I'm not the only one, then! It says in the handbook to flip the wiper blade over to access the clip though, which confuses me! - Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE G4 Challenge vehicle (FOR SALE)

You don't need to flick the wiper upside down...

Mine only lift a few cm away from the screen too, thought it was a fault to be honest. LCFC. Receiver of threatening letters from Overfinch.

You only need to lift the arm enough to get access to the clip then slide the blade forward and off the arm. Fitting is just a matter of positioning the new balde over the end of the arm and pushing on til it clicks into place. Once youve done it, it all makes sense Thumbs Up FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

I had a fight with the arm when I first changed the blades on the RRS. Once you've done it once, it's ok.

Our Skoda Octavia has a system where you put the wiper arms in to a "maintenance position" i.e. pointing up the screen. That allows full articulation of the arm. It's a good system but I have to read how to do it each time because I always forget how to do it! Whistle 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

As Bobby says, you dont have to flip the blade upside down.
I can only raise my wiper arm about an inch or so from the screen, also but it's enough to detach the clip and slide the old wiper off and slot the new one in place. 2010 Alaska white 3.6TDi v8, heated steering wheel, Ipod connection, Aribica extended leather, Digital TV, voice activation, privacy glass, Dynamic pack

Can't fit replacement bosche wiper blades?

I'm trying to replace the wiper blades withe Bosch ones. They are not RR ones but I can't fit the arm through the hole in the wiper blade because the arm doesn't move out more than about 4". Anyone have a solution???
