Belt change?

I have been told today that the rear belt, that is the one everyone is scared of(cost wise, body off job)would do no damage if it snapped.Apparently the car would just stop as it just runs the injectors(I think he said)The front belt is the important one and I can have this done for £350.This is at an approved LR Garage with 70 years experiance.
Both belts they do for £650.
Mine hasn't reached the mileage yet but its worth knowing and I'm thinking of having it done as a piece of mind thing(car has 88k on it)
Also B service £226
A service £266
Transmission fluid change £80

Anyone heard this before?

Steve

The rear belt, yes, it only poswers the fuel pump and is not relating to the engine timing.
you can get both belts done for less than that although still cheaper than the best part of £1,000 LR charge....

A & B service prices you have there are not bad at all.

Transmission fluid, if they are using the Shell M1375.4 spec, then that is impossibly cheap.... I suspect thatt hey are using something 'similar' but I can guarantee wont be the longlife fluid, in which case its fine, but change it every year instead.

Cheers nice to hear confirmation.I thought the transmission fluid change sounded cheap due to the actual fluid costs, but he assured me it is rated for another 75k

its not the longlife stuff then which is 'rated' to 150k.

If it was me with that cheaper fluid, I would be changing it each year (I drive about 22k miles/year) but that's just me. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

I can't tell, the website only states that it is LR TYK500050 equivalent which is as we know Shell M1375.4

So could be same spec, but not super long life, sorry I can't be more helpful. Bodsys Brake Bible
