How reliable are Range Rover Sports 3.6 TDV8?

Hi guys,
I'm new to the forum and generally am a BMW man but the range rover always had something on me, im in the market of purchasing a 4x4 but I hear that range rover sports are unreliable, I was thinking of getting a x5 or x6 but their 4 wheel drive system is rubbish I think when you dont pay for what you get.

Just in general guys truthfully what are the common problems?

Thanks

Had many BMW's over the past 15 years and just come out of an X5 and the RRS knocks its socks off. RR Sport TDV8 09 Santorini Black with all the trimmings

They don't seem to have engine problems, but there are niggly things like knocking on front suspension on older models. If you are buying new you won't get the tdv8 though, I've got the new jag engined v6 2010 and it does me!
In 18 months I've not had an issue with it, and it still feels new every time I drive it, no rattles or squeaks! The panel quality is not as good as the beemers, if you look along the side the doors curl up at the ends, but then it is a landrover after all!!
Best car I've had

That's what I want to hear lol im tempted for the RRS but the power output on a x5 is higher especially on their 3.5d engine.

I had a BMW M5 (507BHP) before my RRS TDV8 and I am telling you the RRS is perfect!!! Forget power etc... ofcourse BMW's 4x4 are quicker as they are lighter etc etc.... but when a RRS drives by people look but when an X5 goes by = Whistle Whistle Whistle

An X6 is just a waste of money.. I was so tempted by it but look at the spec on them, they are so overpriced for what they are!!!

TBH the M5 was terrible, up hills it would struggle due to the way the torque curve sits.... you would have to floor it!

Get a RRS TDV8 with good spec and you will love it!

I went from an BMW 540 to a Audi S8 to a Z3 M roadster (wrote it off) to a Honda Accord Type R to a BMW 645 to a BMW M5 and now a RRS!!!

MPG 17-19 in town....

Not the best but compared to the M5 it's amazing!!! Very Happy

as an old tyre advert said "power is nothing without control!!" the x5 may have the edge on power, but the rrs has 60lb/ft of torque more, which helps slingshot past cars on country roads!!
cheers

Another thing that puts me off is the thing about diesel they say everything is going to go hybrid...but that doesn't make sense with the millions of cars...diesel will keep going up and up thought Confused Twisted Evil

plenty of niggles but nothing major, always buy w/ a warranty

cracking car, I drove a new shape (xdrive35d) X5 for a while and it was really fun, but I'd take a TDV8 with adaptive dynamics+dynamic response ANY day of the week

Thumbs Up ============
2010 TDV8 HSE - ooo laa laaaaaaaaa
2007 TDV8 HSE - superb car and very reliable
============
2012 - dearly departed, sadly missed.. to return in late 2013 with a new TDV8!

I need to look into the list of extras that the RRS has to offer before I buy so I know what I can get for my money.

nothing missing vs the X5 except the HUD, which was cool but a gimmick

the fridge and the superior off-road capability are 2 big additions on the RRS vs the X5

Keep in mind that all TDV8's are HSE spec, but not all HSE's are TDV8's.

Does that make sence? I think so. RRS TDV8 (loving it)
Suzuki Bandit 1200 (For when the suns out)
Nissan 350z GONE
