Seriously, for the 5 days we MAY have snow this year is it really necessary to have 2 sets of alloys and tyres? Have you got that much money to waste |

I paid £600 for 5 19" unused alloys/m+s tyres because the 20" contis fitted are summer tyres, feathered @ 10k and cr ![]() ![]() No I do not have money to burn - I figured this was cheaper than replacing contis every year and safer ![]() Still hoping for a S2 one day! |

Do you know something we don't ![]() I bought mine last year for the simple fact that i live on a hill and with my winter wheels and tyres on i don't have to sit behind everone else stuck at the bottom of it i can just drive around them which ever way i can ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I bought four mint & genuine 19" RRS wheels off eBay for £400 and fitted them with Wintrac Extremes (£169 each). Have to say the ride is a revelation after the 20" Conti's which will remain in the garage until March. The alternative was to buy 20" Wintracs (£207 each) and use a Tyre Hotel (even Kwik-Fit now offer the service) to store the summer tyres until next needed but they charge for the storage and the re-fitting/balancing. As I use my RRS for game shooting it is easy to gouge the 20" wheels in ruts when off roading so the winter tyre/wheel combo makes double sense.

When your used to driving sports cars with stiff suspension and low profile tyres, 22's on a sport is not bad at all, ok one or two fillings have fallen out ![]() Yet ![]() |

Possibly, but as hard suspension and low profile tyres are not required for a road going sports car I still have difficulty understanding the point other than a CMO* by the manufacturers'. Both my Elan and E-Type have 185 section tyres with suspension to match which means they are both quick and comfortable. I doubt there are many supercars that could keep up with a well driven Lotus Elan on a winding country road. When I was lucky enough to be invited to the Weissach Porsche test facility the development engineers assured me a 911 fitted with 16" wheels was quicker around their track than one fitted with 17" or 18" wheels, but customers were prepared to compromise performance for looks and opted for the big wheels every time. As they were cost options Porsche loved it! *Cynical Marketing Opportunity '10 Range Rover Sport TDV8 '97 Porsche 993 C2 '69 Lotus Elan S4 '63 E-Type Jaguar Open Two Seater |

IMO i think that 22" wheels look better on the rrs because they fill out the wheel arches better, when i put my 19's on for winter they look lost in there compared to the 22's, for me its a personal thing as i'm sure it is with others using 22" wheels, i can cope with the ride because i don't find it much different, however, i was in a |

19", 20 and 22" are all different to state the obvious, most people agree the 22"'s are useless...thats why they are standard |
