2012 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Santorini Black
Hi

Hi All,

Just joined having bought a 2005 RR Sport TDV6 HSE. Loving it. Moved from an Audi S4 so totally different power etc but still very happy. And as my fiancee now has the S4 can still play when needed. Managed to find one with the rear entertainment pack which our boys love. Was very strange last weekend going away and the only noise from the back seats was giggling at the film!

New Range Rover Sport owner with a challenge

Hi all, I'm the sort of proud owner of a RRS HSE with lots of bells and whistles,

I purchased this new end of March 2011 and from around 2500 miles, I'm having real problems.

First thing in the morning, for the first 2 - 3 miles mainly, and at other times I'm experiencing 2 problems.

1. Wheel wobble through the steering wheel at all speeds

2. a feeling as if the front nearside shock absorber has gone, I know that I've not got shock absorbers, but that's what I'd say it was like from my experiences with cars many years ago.

I'm not getting a great experience with my dealership, and thus far this is what has happened.

1. around 2500 miles I took the car in and they said it was a known issue and that they would change front pads and disks, this did not cure it

2. they then questioned the wheel balancing, had it in for checking and stated that the wheels were not circular and looked like I'd hit a curb or sleeping policeman at speed, however I challenged this and they withdrew the comment.

3. they stated that the wheels required a "special" balancing and carried it out, this did not fix the problem.

4. through discussion we agreed that they would fit a spare set of wheels to see if this fixed the issue, it did not

5. the dealership believed that the fix was to change all four tyres, this they did, damaged 2 rims in the process and this has not fixed it.

Landrover are now stating that the porblem is that with the wheels / tryes that I have fitted, which are the standard 275 / 40 / 20's, when I leave it overnight, the tyres get a flatspot which causes the issue in the morning for the first few miles whilst the tyres warm up.

I doubt this very much and am now in discussion with the dealership for them to take the car back and either provide me with a new car or all my money back

Has anyone else experienced problems like this?

thanks in anticipation, I'll also post this in the problems forum area

I can't understand why they tried issue 4 only to prove that didn't work and then suggest issue number 5 Confused Confused I have heard of this before where the tyres get flatspots over night then cause wheel wobble for the first few miles afterwards, try putting more air in your tyres see if this makes a difference

Hi, I thought it about time to introduce myself on the RRS forum. I am an Independent Land Rover Dealer specialising in FFRR but salso stocking D3, RRS and Freelander2.

I have been one of Martins Site sponsors across all of the forums for some time and have developed a very good relationship with the members on FFRR and D3.

I offer to buy member cars at CAP based PX prices where members do want to sell privately and are not buying a new model. I try to keep transactions simple and I can collect from anywhere in the UK.

I may make the occasional For Sale post here and can be contacted by PM or Email. If there are other Independents already fulfilling this role I will happily butt out Thumbs Up

Hi All,

Just 'upgraded' to a 2012 model Sport from a 2007 Disco 3, what a different machine, I thought the disco was a nice car but the sport is fantastic, well until it breaks down for the first time anyway!

I have a customer with a tdv6 Range Rover Sport 2007
The cam belt has snapped after being replaced in june this year and 5000 miles ago
The dealer has stated that an idler mounting has snapped causing the belt to snap and major engine damage.
They are saying that if it can be proved to be a cam belt failure the dealer will pay, but if not then its down too the customer.
Has anyone heard of his before ?
Many thanks in advance

Thanks for the replies
Having now travelled to the dealers in question and viewed the car I can now see what's happened
The oil pump casing has a tensioner mounted at the top of the casting. The oil pump casing has snapped meaning that the tensioner has then come of it's mounting point and the belt has become loose and causing major engine damage.
The tensioner adjuster allen key hole shows signs of being over tightened and then locked up on it's 13 mm headed bolt causing the casing to snap
The tensioner and all other idlers all spin freely but requires another engine.
I will be ringing the dealers tomorrow but the head technician and service manager agree with my findings

England 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Stornoway Grey

Hi all, just joined your forum to see if I can fix an intermittent fault on my RRS 10 MY. I'll do a separate post for that, just like to say hello, I'm a retired JLR engineer, worked on Xtype, Freelander, and initial planning of Evoque before taking the money in 2009. On my secong RRS TDV8, this one is Stornoway Grey HSE and one of the last TDV8's made. First one was Rimini Red, still like that colour..
