Always thought about 10k miles a year to be average family/go to work, mileage.

Can't really help you with your question, but it's one of the things I find strange re.the RRS or maybe its just this forum, but everyone seems doom and gloom if an RRS has a few K on it(read the posts/comments,you must get one with low mileage etc.)just seems odd that a vehicle that costs 50Kupwards,is built like a tank and basically been in war zones(granted with a different frock on) cant be expected to do galactic mileage. My taxi driver's passat has done 295K and has had 2 wheel bearings,my mates merc 280k same story very little spent apart form normal maintenance.Surely we should be expecting that sort of mileage, they cost enough after all. |

agreed, most people say a v8 isnt broke in until 100,000 miles, the benifit with these cars are they are in almost all cases very, very welll looked after, and tend not to work if uncle bob tries to mess usinging his socket set. |

But ex Highway Agencies D3 coilers with 200k+ on the clock still fetch 10k+ whereas the Passat is scrap value! |

essentially the engine, transmission, gearbox etc should be good for 150k+ miles (note that is a *should*.. still plenty of things can and do go wrong). But what really takes a battering, especially in a heavy car like the RRS with dynamic response, is the suspension. Every mile really makes a difference and I wouldn't have faith in any related component past 50k miles. ============

I once knew a very eccentric ex army major who in his sixties decided to become a priest. He used to get involved in vintage car racing and a friend of mine used to drive for him sometimes. He had loads of money but used to drive around in an old mini traveler. He took it all over the world and the last time I seen the mini it had covered over almost 850, 000 miles.

A bit pessimistic view imho, Land Rover warranty 3 years or 60K miles says that in their view cars are good for more. Insurance companies now view 14K per year as average |

LOL.. a £90k Porsche Cayenne Turbo costs less than e30k to build.. so the warranty/component lifespan just gets factored into the 'profit margin' and I suspect the same happens with our beloved RRS's! ============

I am on 74k miles with my beloved 57 plate tdv8. I have just renewed the warranty, it past the mot again no problem, it is in mint condition as it gets detailed every year. I am waiting until they bring out a completely revamped rrsport, not just a mild facelift. With the evoque and the latest pictures of the defender they have to do something pretty radical with the rrs to keep it at the top of it's Market.

changing car every 50k because you don't trust the suspention components is a bit of an expensive way to motor |

I don't know anyone who thinks 10k is average these days. More like 15k.

Agree high mileage should not be an issue on these cars...........I do 20K a year and don't see that as particularly high, Maybe just above average |

20k+ a year from me a(38k so far since Dec 10) so expect 100k before i give it up. Re suspension components, never even considerd it on a modern car but agree that a baggy ride was always the default setting on a 40k+ mainstream model (read Ford/Vauxhall) in the 80's and 90's My 2010MY RRS 3.0 TDV6SE is Nara Bronze with Almond leather, straight grain walnut trim, 20" 15 spoke alloy's, mood lighting and power fold mirrors Gone |
