Hi, my Range Rover Sport 2009 has been picked up by Land Rover Assistance and is currently at the Land Rover Garage. My brake pad warning light has come on again. The garage have said that I need another set of rear pads. This will be my 3rd set of rears in 2 years and my fronts are already on their 3rd set. I have only done 19000 miles and use the car for local journeys only. I have also had two full sets of tyres in the same time. Do you think this is normal???

No not normal at all. 50k miles and only one change of pads, probably due though. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

they have put the car on the diagnostic machine and said there was no fault!!! My husband has demanded that they take all the wheels off and check the car the "old fashioned" way! Land Rover have said that it is to be expected of this car, as it is heavy on the brakes??

I had the same problem with my "S" at 18,000 miles needed new handrake shoes, new rear discs due to handbrake sticking on and new front pads all rather disappointing.

Sorry but that's a load of bull t!, sounds like a fob off to me! My current RRS has about 24k on the clock and the brakes are fine. My 1st set of tyres were replaced at 20k but they were still well within legal limits and probably had another 4 k of life in them at the time. My previous RRS (2007 model) had one set of pads replaced in a 2 1/2 year period and also one set of tyres. I have a 2008 TDV6 with 25,000 miles on the clock, I prefer to do most of the service work myself for two reasons, 1. to keep the cost down when it goes in for the required service and 2. because I know the work has been done properly if I do it myself.

This week I changed the front and rear pads and adjusted the EPB, the pads were only about 60% worn when compared to the new genuine parts and disc wear was minimal, this was the first time the brakes had been changed.

I also tow a very large twin axle caravan which I would expect to put more strain on the braking system!

I can't imagine why you should be having so much wear on your brakes unless they are in contact with the disc slightly more than they should be, then the wheels would run hot and your fuel consumption would be high!

I will be very interested to hear what the cause of the problem is, good luck.

my average is 21mpg

MPG is a bit low but if it's mostly urban then that could be the reason. Take it to another dealer. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

ok....update on my car. Apparently, the car has now had a full inspection and there is "nothing wrong with it". However, just spoke to another Land Rover dealer who said he and his workshop foreman had never heard anything like it. The garage that it's at wants to charge me £295 for changing the rear pads-think they are taking me for a ride. What do i do? Is there a motor association I can call to help me????? Need some top advice!!!

£295 just for rear pads? get it out of there and go some where else. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

If the works not done, then take it.

If the works been done - did you approve it - if not then its there fault, seek advice and take the car back

If the works been done and you did approve it - ask for the removed parts and never return Mike
