ok....update on my car. Apparently, the car has now had a full inspection and there is "nothing wrong with it". However, just spoke to another Land Rover dealer who said he and his workshop foreman had never heard anything like it. The garage that it's at wants to charge me £295 for changing the rear pads-think they are taking me for a ride. What do i do? Is there a motor association I can call to help me????? Need some top advice!!!
take the car straight out and to another garage for a second opinion then if they state different get on to LR Customer service, take it to the garage you spoke to then claim for wasted time etc i did great outcome

The car is at Hadley Green at the moment. The guy from Head Office that we've been speaking to has basically agreed with the inspection done at the garage and said there was nothing more he could do. I just have to pay for the rear pads to be done!!

Hi, my Range Rover Sport 2009 has been picked up by Land Rover Assistance and is currently at the Land Rover Garage. My brake pad warning light has come on again. The garage have said that I need another set of rear pads. This will be my 3rd set of rears in 2 years and my fronts are already on their 3rd set. I have only done 19000 miles and use the car for local journeys only. I have also had two full sets of tyres in the same time. Do you think this is normal???
Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Not at all, 2.7 HSE 47K miles and one set of fronts and one set of rears, somebody is having your eyes out.

Rear pads, circa £50

You need to find a better dealer. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

is the nature of your driving tough on pads?

Do you do lots of short journeys, maybe involving wet roads? Whistle

Have to ask... my Porsche went through a set at 21k and when I complained they said it was corrosion on the disks causing excessive wear.. reason for corrosion, cool wet disks due to short journeys resulting in surface rust. RRS gone

ok, now for the best bit. After taking advice, we decided to have the car looked at by another dealer. My husband instructed that all work was to be stopped on the car and that the old pads should be put back on, so we can take it out to another dealer. This morning, we got a call from Hadley Green to say that all the work had been completed and my car had a lovely new set of rear pads on it!!!! Now been advised by 2 other dealerships that any other inspections now wouldn't show up any problems because the new set of pads had been fitted. They have proper screwed us!!!

May be completely unrelated but I had a Jaguar XF which neede rear pads at 12,000 miles. This is the first car I've had in years that required rear pads. Only ones that have have done over 50,000 between sets (BMW).

JLR's response was that the stability control system (DSC) automatically applies the rear brakes as it feels necessary for optimum car stability and if you are in the habit of entering corners/roundabouts relatively quickly the DSC will be activated and the rear pads will suffer.

In my case I didn't agree because the rear tyre wear was less than the fronts and had the stealers do a warranty claim.

The RRS is a heavy vehicle which would make the situation worse and I'm not sure if the RRS is using a similar approach but you might want to ask relevant questions and check out the rear tyre wear compared to the fronts.
