Perhaps a wee bit harsh there Foxy. To be fair to Autoglass, I didn't ask if it was an OEM part at first and to be honest, If the car wasn't still under warranty I doubt it would have been as big an issue...... But hey ho... the facts are, it does still have 2 years warranty and I'm not willing to take any chances with it, so off to the dealer it'll go. I just hope LR parts dept don't let me down 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black 2013 Evoque 5 Door Pure Tech SD4 - Orkney Grey with Panoramic Roof (Mrs E's new baby) GONE - RRS - 3.0 TDV6 HSE - Santorini (2010) GONE - RRS - 2.7 TDV6 HSE - Java Black (2007) GONE - Porsche Boxster S - 3.2 - Black |

as land rover insurance paid for it...ask them to write to you to confirm that the windscreen fitted was a genuine land rover part or fully met the original land rover specification for the windscreen. Remind them its a structural item and that should an accident occur you want them to accept liability should in any subsequent investigation the window is found to be at fault. |

Just checked and my screen is definitley an OE Screen and is displaying the LR Logo. However, I will put on file the paperwork that autoglass left me....just in case I need to use it a later date.

I had the same issue when replacing a screen. The insurer want to fit non OEM. I insisted that they fit OEM( in this case a merc screen) . I used the simple logic that if they were prepared to take my large premium for this value car and were prepared to insure the car knowing what likely costs may be. Therefore when an event happened, all I wanted was like for like not an inferior product, nor betterment - they fitted an OEM. |
