WHICH TRANSMISSION OIL FOR AUTO GEARBOX?

HI Does any one know where is the best place to buy auto gearbox for RRS 06 plate?. Local LandRover dealership wants £24.00 per 1ltr bottle They tell me that it will need 9.5 ltrs £250.00 as near as dam it they also said it has to be the right oil or the gearbox will die.. The reason i want to change it, there is a bit of a shunt from the box when slowing down then putting your foot down on the accelerator. i have read on a thread that changing the oil MAY help to stop it???? Confused

take it to a specialist and get them to change the filter at the same time...should be cheaper and gives you a chance to meet the specialist as well

I hear what you are saying ,,, but have you any idea where i can buy the correct oil from. There must be transmission oils that do the same job for a lot less ££

I can't believe that changing the gearbox oil isn't in the service schedule, when i asked about it at my dealer yes the price per litre is correct, but he also he told me that you are supposed to change it again shortly after, god knows why i got put off the idea that works out at about £500 + try millers oils website i'm sure they can recommend a replacement oil.

why dont you get the spec of the oil from the owners manual and search on line...
think oil gets changed after 10 years.....if you have crap in your box then maybe it needs flushing..so putting some new oil in and then draining sounds right unfortunately..and then a new filter to finish off

depending on the gearbox the bottom of the gearbox might have to be removed to get to the filter...not quite the same as dealing with the engine oil filter which sits outside the engine sump
