I had an X5 a few years ago, bought it new and sold it after 4 months for the very reason gilford states below. Its a normal BMW on stilts.

I do enjoy the many comments on here reference "on stilts" for the Beemers, nice to see that people can actually see their niche market place, i.e. just like any other BMW, just higher. Wow .... whats intriguing is that I posted the same post on an X5 forum .... by far less people defending the X5 than the RRS

Just goes to prove how emotive the Range Rover brand is ......

The X5 is quite clearly an accomplished vehicle ... and for what I do (mainly motorway and A roads) probably the better suited to my life ...

But ..... I can't help but feel I would get up everyday and think 'it's not a Range Rover' ..... especially having spent so much on the Overfinch kit !

Seems a strange thing to do, justify spending lots of money changing cars to save money on fuel.

If you can afford to change cars, why not just spend it on fuel and enjoy your RRS? I think you just want an X5 and you are using economy as a reason.  Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

Have you tried the TDv8 4.4 FFRR before you go to an X5?

There are at least 5 members from here who have changed their RRS TDv8 and S/C's in the last few days for a 4.4TDV8 FFRR THE BIG DADDY as WW would say 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I've tried the X5, the Lexus, the Volvo, the Mercedes, even the Jeep.

Jeep is not that bad, but a bit, well, American.
Lexus and Volvo are plain cheap, plasticky and metals like second rate silverware.
X5 is hard, like all BMW.
Merc is clean, but cold.
The RRS and the FFRR are second to none.
I only dream sometimes about Jaguar creating a 4x4, at last.
