USB Audio Interface

Has anyone had any experience getting audio to play from a USB memory stick on an MY10 RRS? I've got an ipod to play fine so the interface is working.
The manual suggests a USB memory stick should work as long as it is FAT or FAT32 formatted, and contains MP3, WMA or AAC files. However, I just get an error message saying 'device error'.
Has anyone got any ideas?

Cheers,
Simon.

What size of USB are you using ?

There has been issues with this documented elsewhere and most recommend using a device smaller than 2GB to start with then inserting the larger device. the smaller the stick the better some larger flash or hard drives may be too power hungry for the port.

I've tried it with an 8GB, but I also tried with a 2GB ipod shuffle in disc mode just in case it was a powering issue. Both give the same error.

I'll hunt around and see if I have an old stick around that is below 2Gb and give that a try.

I'm using a SanDisk 16gb which I formatted in Windows 7 (Computer-G or whatever Drive,)-right click-format-Fat32-Quick format, load music. Plug it in and the RRS system will show all the Music and Artists and give you the choice to play randomly. The same input works on other music players, Archos, Cowan, Sony etc. I've also wired in a little 'Sonichi' DAB player (Halfords) into the Aux socket for permanent Planet Rock the head unit is the size of a packet of 10 fags and is mounted in the top glove box, it works well, much better than my old Pure Highway in my Disco 3.

Try checking whether you have any hidden files on the USB....go into Explorer, select tools and then folder options. The tick the box to show all hidden files. Have a look in the directory to see if it shows any rouge files. I have a 16gb Bytestor USB (£10 from Amazon) and it works a treat!!
