After a few months of reading the heaps of useful information on this site and sister site Disco3.co.uk, I thought it was time to give something back...

Since buying my 05 SC a couple of months back I have been replacing tired parts to bring the old girl back to looking as close to new as I can.

One part of the car I interact with frequently is the 3 button key fob that had seen better days (shiny and scratched case). Faced with buying a new one and programming it up at great expense I decided to try and just replace the casing.

Several Internet searches later I found a manufacturer or a replacement case and took the plunge. A week later I had the case and made the mod to my primary key.

I have to say it went well and I am happy with the results at a fraction of a new key cost.

I took some pictures and wrapped them in a set of instructions that worked for me so you can see how it went.

I have to say the first thing I did when I got my second hand RRS was to scrub the key fobs with an old toothbrush cos they were filthy - look like new now! FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

Hey Rislar, I bought a sample batch of fob cases from a manufacturer in HongKong / China. This was a little risky but it worked out fine this time around.

I notice there is now a company on eBay in UK selling the cases.

I also have a couple spare if anyone is interested, just drop me a PM.
