Australia 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

My current RRS (2008 2.7TD) had a slight coolant leak when new which was detected and fixed by the dealer. Since then no problems. My previous vehicle was a 1984 RR Classic (4 door, 5 speed manual) which I bought new and owned for 24 years before moving to the RRS. When I sold it (2 years ago) it was complete and original with the only problem being that it stopped suddenly once which was down to a dirty fuse box. Only parts replaced were the brake master cylinder and head gaskets, aside from normal consumables. Never let me down and she went everywhere.

I started this topic but I spoke too soon Embarassed

My love of Land Rover/Range Rover may be over. After 10 years/8 Vehicles without complaint it appears TATA have ruined everything Big Cry

In the past problems were resolved under warranty without fuss - not so now Shocked

1. 10 years ago my dealer advised me my tyres were wearing unusually on my FL1 and replaced them - I had not even noticed. Now on the RRS I have had for 3 months and reported to them a month ago they tell me it is a characteristic and if I want tracking/balance/tyres checked I need to pay for them. I had done 1000 miles and it had 6500 miles on when I bought it and they are the continental tyres that everyone knows about Confused

2. I reported the LED was not working in a rear door 2 months ago and this should have been sorted on the last 2 dealer visits but was forgotten. They now tell the wiring is missing and not covered by warranty as they can not send back defective parts because there are none Exclamation

3. A month ago I had a warning light regarding "lean when cornering" so took RRS to dealer for diagnostic. They advised me they needed to send report to LR for authorisation then order parts and book car in for 2 days. Two weeks later they took car away and brought it back with the same story and nothing done. Yesterday they took it back again and now claim they can not find a problem so no action will be taken despite seeing the warning and logging it on the diagnostic on both earlier inspections Mad

4. 2 months ago I noticed a defect in the paintwork to a rear door. This was also forgotten on the last 2 visits and is now awaiting authorisation. It appears panel seal was not cleaned off prior to spraying when built - but this is verbal and will probably be denied Rolling Eyes

5. I had to battle for assistance in July when my FL1 clutch failed a month out of warranty despite problem being reported under warranty and eventually received offer of 50% goodwill compensation but 11 weeks later I am still awaiting payment Yawn

During the last month my RRS has had 3 trips to the dealer, added 150 miles, wasted 6 gallons of diesel and they have not corrected any problems yet. Now call me stupid but on a £53000 vehicle, (twice what I spent on my last FL2), I thought the service/vehicle would be better. Ive had 3 classics, 2 P38's 1 freelander, 1 defender, and the RRS, only the P38 had a problem with the aircon, the RRS has been the most reliable car I have ever owned in 35 years of driving?

I understand what you are saying but look at the evidence -

1. my 7 previous/faultless LR were built before TATA.

2. You're 2006 RRS is pre TATA

3. I am having problems with a 2010 RRS (built by TATA) and

4. comparing the service now to before TATA....

Sorry you are having problems but I wouldn't think it has anything to do with TATA, as far as I'm aware TATA have only got a management team in JLR at the moment, Engineers, Fitters, Suppliers, components, processes havent been changed yet, they all build good ones and bad ones?

I don't think it's solely down to Tata. Ford had input long before Tata and coincidently they bought Volvo too. I had 3 Volvo's, 2 prior to Ford's involvement which were brilliant. Never went near the garage apart from servicing and the then 2008 model which was never OUT of the garage. My RRS went fine for 6 months apart from 2 small problems then had a complete nervous breakdown after that! It was so bad LR bought it back off me!

The difference between Volvo and LR was how they dealt with it. VCUK couldn't have given two sh Censored s about it where with LR I have been offered incentives in the from of discount to try and keep my custom and if there comes a time with the right deal I may yet return to LR. Only stumbling block there is the local dealer if there are any other problems.

I noticed it about the same time Will!!! Rolling with laughter Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

2. Selling dealer agreed to pay for LED wiring missed on factory build but has never rang since to book it in/confirm parts arrived - 14 weeks and counting Crying or Very sad

3. Lean warning never come back on so given up Confused

4. LR agreed to sort paintwork under warranty but again waiting for Dealer to arrange - 14 weeks and counting Big Cry

5. Still waiting for LR goodwill payment - 4 months and counting Evil or Very Mad

Stratstone Nottingham sold me RRS and are supposed to pay for LED wiring as they missed it on PDI.

Armstrong Massey York let me down on the FL clutch problem after 10 years of my custom/business so Stratstone Hull were supposed to have taken responsibility for resolving my problems but heard nothing from them since I paid for clutch/service in July.

LR Customer Service ring almost weekly and tell me they are dealing with my issues but as weeks/months go by I am losing confidence in LR Customer Service/LR Dealers/LR Brand. Re missing bit, ok s Censored t happens and whoever didn't have that part in the factory couldn't be arsed logging it for rectification. On two factory tours when asked what happens if a bit is not available at the right stage, the reply was a shrug and answer that it just continues. Whether it gets rectified depends on how major it is (like whether the car will run with it or not) and whether the bod at that station logs it. Explains why parts were missoing on my 06 D3. Great if I spot them within 3 years, and obviously my time wasted is of no consequence getting it sorted. Rolling Eyes

Now OK, PDI doesn't cover everything but to say that because a part is missing from manufacture and it can't be sorted coz they don't have a part to sort out is a moronic reply, if the car arrived without an engine do they think that tat would not be a warranty claim?? Idiots!

It's crap like this that is going to result in me probably not buying another LR product. My D3 has had more problems than all the other cars I've run from buying my first new car in 1988. Whilst I have a great dealer in Frank Ogg, Elgin, the cars themselves are just too unreliable. I run 2 D3s and a Honda Jazz, once was asked why I don't get rid of the Jazz. Coz the LR's are too unreliable, with a couple of times where both are off the road at the same time.

Problem with choosing non LR is as you get familiar with their failings, another brand is a complete unknown!

Rant over, off to open a bottle of vino!

I don't believe it........ Shocked

My RRS has finally gone in for paintwork and wiring to be sorted after LR customer service told me they were speaking to dealer management Very Happy

I just hope this is the end of 5 months of excuses and zero service Sad

Apparently my cheque went missing for clutch and will be handed to me when my RRS is returned on Friday Rolling Eyes

Incidentally the results of my polls show everyone with FL2 disagrees with which but 23% of RRS owners agree - would be 26% but I can't change my vote Evil or Very Mad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

I don't believe it ..... again Shocked

Discovered last week that my car has not been locked since November because Stratstone did not complete rewiring to door properly Rolling Eyes

I have been parking in streets and multi storeys oblivious to the fact anyone could have opened the back door and helped themselves to my xmas shopping Big Cry

Reported to LRCS 3 days ago and still waiting for someone to get back to me and sort it. Car has been locked in my garage for a week now as I am afraid to park it anywhere Evil or Very Mad

Interesting point re: door LED wiring. I had a Sept 09 delivered MY10 TDV8 which LR eventually replaced (with a TDV6 beacuse the TDV8 had gone out of production by the time LR gave in!! Evil or Very Mad ) due to endless faults and manafacturing issues (Even the new TDV6 went mental over the Christmas break with the dash lighting up like a Christmas tree and is off to the dealers)

I was amazed by the LED lights in the TDV6 when I got it last September and thought they were a new addition to the spec - obviouly also missed off my TDV8 (along with another component) but I never noticed. LR quality control is truly S**T.

LR sent me a 'quality survey' over Christmas so I vented my anger in spades. I must have wasted tens of hours in 2010 chasing LR and dealers, organising alternative transport whilst the RRS was being repaired, waiting for cars to be picked up, etc. etc. Had a fault free Freelander for seven years prior to the RRS - I will never buy another LR again!

After 7 months of problems it looks as though I finally got everything sorted and I am pleased to say LRCS and Stratstone are trying to make it up to me Thumbs Up

Last week I got 2 bottles of wine and a golf umbrella from Stratstone who to be honest caused most of the problems Confused

Today I received a very nice hamper from LRCS who have also rang me weekly to update me on progress and chase Stratstone on my behalf. I would especially like to thank Colin for his help Bow down

I may buy another LR after all if this is a sign things are improving again Shocked Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
