2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I have only had one Land Rover out of 7 owned in the last 16 years that let me down at the roadside, it was an early Disco2 TD5 Auto and it shredded an auxy drive belt on the way to the dealership to be handed in for a shiney new Freelander1 GS TD4 Auto. My RRS TDv6 had one spell of going into limp home mode but it never actually stopped and LRA came out and plugged in a laptop and diagnosed a problem with a coolant sensor IIRC. The best car of the lot has been my Defender as I have owned it now for nearly 9 years, it gets proper servicing by a non franchised specialist using genuine LR parts even though it never does more than 3000-4000 miles a year and often less, but it gets abused in those few miles as it is my offroad toy, but it gets used the way it was designed to be used.
Ask my brother-in-law which is the most unreliable cars he has ever owned and he will tell you - BMW, he's handed back 3 in the last 5 years because they were in the service bay more than he had them on his drive - but he currently has a 3 years old 320TD Touring that he brought used with 50000 miles on it and it never misses a beat, but he'll never ever buy a new BM again! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

If I read the article right, it would appear that its the public that's filled in the questions for Which so its not just a journalist making it up as he goes along!

No surprise to find the imported Kia Picanto most reliable car though! Maybe Tata should flog LR/RR off to them! See if they can't sort out the reliability from there! Whistle Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

I wonder how many people answer based on their understanding rather than experience - my instant response to KIA is reliable but that's only due to the warranty - have no experience of the real reliability of them - how many people think LR and unreliable. Just bought my wife an Alfa Mito and everyone says alfa's breakdown all the time - sweeping statements seem to live with all brands

LR - unreliable
BMW - drivers are idiots and can't indicate
Alfa - crap engines
Etc

Wouldn't have put Alfa with crap engines. Drove a gtv6 once and it was amazing thing to drive to drive! The noise from the exhaust and the grunt it had were brilliant! Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

Italy 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

I wonder if owners of Merc are to imbarassed to admit their cars are C**P!!! My father had a ML280 cdi, it was in the workshop weekly, and then finally the gearbox packed in at nearly 100k miles!!! Now he has a ML350 cdi, he just bought it but its 6 months old and within a month he has had to take it in due to the float in the fuel tank disintergrating!!!!

I think you will find all cars built today are really not as reliable as before, my RRS TDV8 in the 3 years I have had it has only had the handbrake stick (first time was LR fault the other 2 were the dealership) and the bushes...... that probably a ratio of 1 to 10 compared to my fathers ML280! RRS TDV8 HSE 2007- JAVA Black/Black interior,

Prior to becoming Lr customer I had a brand new Toyota Landcruiser and heater jammed first week - in August Shocked
Took 3 months to resolve, dealer scratched dash fixing, etc Big Cry

A friend just received compensation after 3 years fighting VW with problems - they took the car 18 months ago to examine, never brought it back and obstructed him as much as possible. Evil or Very Mad

Prior to that he had 3 years problems on a merc. Crying or Very sad

These are so called reliable brands. Rolling Eyes

I am a member of which but I will still buy Lr's until my experience matches their findings Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HST Stornoway Grey

Just sold my V8 Diesel HST, that goodness its gone, biggest heap of junk every made, poor build quality, sat nav that is just pathetic(if it works- crashes most of the time), suspension knocks irrespective of any modification done (the last repair did last 7,000 miles), did 31000 miles and glad the heap has gone.

LR much use as a chocolate solider sorting out the problems, and as for the dealer, I am in the process of taking them to court for the damage caused which cost me £2000 to put right.

I learnt one very important lesson and that is make sure the selling dealer is a member of the SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders) as they would have intervened and taken the dealer to task without me having to do anything.

For example - you will find that Stratstone and the parent company Pendragon are NOT members so you could experience issues if things went wrong and you wanted it sorted out and they were not being helpful, hypothetically speaking.

I have to agree - I had a freelander for 7 years that was perfect but the MY10 RRS is now ten months old and has 14 different faults or manafacturing defects. It still ends up in the garage once every 3-4 weeks and has never fully worked since I collected it. Really shocking for a £60k car - LR customer serice is poor and think this state of affairs is acceptable - I don't know what planet they inhabit.
