Hi i have a battery drain that i was sure was the battery had the RAC out today and they have said that the battery is fine, so was totally confused i saw this post and had a look at the switch , i have managed to pull the rubber off and there is quite a bit of corrosion so i have cleaned it up a bit, the thing is i never had an issue with the tailgate switch and this has been working fine, will this be playing up as well? also how do you get the switch out i cant get the casing out and i cant see any screws anyone have any ideas? cheers J HSE TDV6 running boards colour coded SC grill sidevents and rear tailgate strip and 2010 lights |

hi m8 this could be the cause of your battery drain a new one is about £30 to get it out put a flat screwdriver between the switch and the body of the car and it should clip out |

Need to change switch also. Could ya do a quick pic of the change over and perhaps a link to the part to buy? Thanks 2005 (55) RRS 4.2 V8 S/C Buckingham Blue

If you still have warranty left LR will replace the switch under warranty - had my TDV8's whole upper tailgate replaced under warranty to replace the locking mechanism as it was cheaper and quicker for the dealership than stripping the upper section down and replacing the switch and wiring. There was about half a cupful of water inside the upper tailgate on mine which was put down to condensation in the cold weather last winter.

Just pry the switch out and disconnect the electrical connector...
