Battery Drain Fix!!!

hi guys finally got to the bottom of the battery drain and you wouldnt believe what it was, turned out to be a completely corroded upper tailgate switch. This was pulling a permanent drain from the battery but not releasing the catch coz of the corrosion so wouldnt know this was the problem.

Only found this by accident, its taken me 3 weeks of testing and pulling fuses to find this problem. I would advise anyone with any battery or upper tailgate issue to check their switch by peeling back the rubber, if you have any corrosion you will have problems!!!

New switch £34 plus VAT and 2 mins to fit. Razz Razz

Hi i have a battery drain that i was sure was the battery had the RAC out today and they have said that the battery is fine, so was totally confused i saw this post and had a look at the switch , i have managed to pull the rubber off and there is quite a bit of corrosion so i have cleaned it up a bit, the thing is i never had an issue with the tailgate switch and this has been working fine, will this be playing up as well? also how do you get the switch out i cant get the casing out and i cant see any screws anyone have any ideas? cheers J HSE TDV6 running boards colour coded SC grill sidevents and rear tailgate strip and 2010 lights

If you still have warranty left LR will replace the switch under warranty - had my TDV8's whole upper tailgate replaced under warranty to replace the locking mechanism as it was cheaper and quicker for the dealership than stripping the upper section down and replacing the switch and wiring. There was about half a cupful of water inside the upper tailgate on mine which was put down to condensation in the cold weather last winter.
