United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Java Black

Hello,

i was a member of disco3.co.uk but i have not be on for ages as i sold the disco 3 backin january of this year. Owned the car for about 13 months and it was off the road for at least 3 of those. Anyway hoping to get back in the driver seat. I am looking at a 2006 rr sport 4.4 v8 petrol. jUST WONDERED IF ANYONE HAD ANY ADVICE. Took it out on a test drive and wow what a machine. Ijust hope that landrover do not let me down this time. Dealing with Parks of ayr and so far they have been excellent but then again they do not have my cash yet. I have told them about the bad experience with the disco 3 so they have promised to me that they will do there best to not let that happen this time. So far they have agreed to everything i have asked for and i really cant wait to collect the beast. Would love to hear form other 4.4 v8 owners and would welcome any advice on what to watch out for.

cheers

david

ps

by the way i have 4 19" rr sport alloys with continental tyres for sale. i need the space in the garage to house the beast so £300.00 o.n.o secures a sale Many Thanks
David

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Welcome to "the Dark Side" for D3 owners David, there aren't so many 4.4V8s around - more people went for the S/C which has similar voracious appetite for 4* but a lot more go for it! Most of the 4.4's were sold overseas where fuel is cheaper. There haven't been that many problems with them reported on here though. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Italy

Hello Martin and all,

Already a a disco3 member and jumped over to this forum, as I always liked the RRS, though not that practical for my use so the need for a D3/4.
However I have found a RRS TDV8 SE (grey, tan/alpaca interior and wood finish) on auction, for a ridiculously low start price here in Italy, I am an expat residing in Italy. Can anyone here enlighten me with the specs for a TDV8 SE and whatoptions were there. IT is a too good an offer to not look into it.

Thanks to all,

Steve

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Nara Bronze
Hi

Hi

We are thinking of buying a Range Rover Sport.

Budget is upto around £35k for a newish one (around 2007 onwards) with decent spec and TDV8 engine.

I took a RRS for a test drive (with smaller 2.7 litre TDV6 engine)

Yes it was slow (but I'm not too bothered about that) but was great to drive and very easy.

I also drove a Range Rover Vogue with 3.7 litre TDV8 engine and didn't like it even half as much. I think mainly because of its wallowly nature, even when cornering at low speeds.

I'd appreciate any info regarding what to look for etc. as I am new to Range Rovers as it is a bit on my mine re: Range Rover and reliability - or lack of it.

The reason we are after a Range Rover Sport are:

1. Safety (too many idiots on the road that think its sociably acceptable to drink and drive and/or use their mobile while drive) and overtake when it simply ain't safe to do so - we don't want to be a traffic accident statistic.

2. Comfort as we enjoy going for random days out but we are currently put off driving for any length of time or distance.

3. Practicality, fold seats away and you have a van.

Our current cars are a 14 year old Audi 1.9tdi with 220,000 miles on the clock - a lovely rock solid - dependable car - but not great to drive for long distances and Im sure a 14 year old car won't do too well in an accident compared to a modern car, never mind a Range Rover.

Other fun car is an AC Cobra Replica with a fat 6.3 litre V8 engine Smile (0-60 in approx 3.7 seconds) which I just go for the occasional drive in locally. So a Range Rover is a totally different driving experience but from my limited experience of driving them, a very nice experience indeed.

Paul
