I tested and ordered a MY10 TDV6 but because of a mix up at the dealer followed by a cancelled order and a new offer on an immediately available car, I'm now driving a MY10 TDV8. I'll probably be in a minority amongst the TDV8 owners on here, but having driven both, I think that the 3.0 TDV6 is still a great engine and I would be very happy to drive it. Power, refinement and fuel economy are superb on the new V6. I am surprised by how much fuel the V8 uses - 13l/100km so far for me so far, mainly on the motorway and without excessive use of the throttle.

That seems very high for mainly motorway use. I am averaging around 10.7L/100km for city driving and around 9.5L/100km when doing mainly motorway driving. Furthermore, I'll admit that I am a bit of lead-foot when it comes to driving so I reckon I could probably do better than that (slightly) if I tried hard. You're probably right. I've only had it a few days and a couple of hundred kilometers so I'll see how it does in the next few months.

Hi, I am a tdv8 driver and had a MY10 V6 car from the dealer as a replacement car. There was no 'soul' in it. That' the only way I can describe it.

have to agree with you about cars having a soul, i stuck with subarus for so long because they have a "soul" despite mitsi's evos being quicker , imho they couldnt match the chitty chitty bang bang of an impreza "talking" to you!! saying that , i recon once you get going on a smooth flowing country road, i can cover ground every bit as quick in my 3ltr V6 than in my imprezas! and with it being so quiet and refined inside i am not sure i would want to upset that by having the v8 bellowing through the airvents!! cheers dave MY10 TDV6 SE (debadged ), Santorini Black, Flappy paddles, Privacy Glass, 20" Stormers, Mudflaps! On paper the TDv8 and TDv6 3.0l are so close as to make no difference. In use however the TDv8 has more grunt, more surge, more creamy power and more feel (which might be summarised as "soul"). But I would imagine that no one driving the TDv6 will feel short changed (like you did in the 2.7) and you would quickly forget the extra pleasure that a TDv8 could provide.

I heard, whether it is true, is that the current TDV8 in the RRS is to be dropped entirely from the range. The FFRR will get the 4+ltr TDV8 and the TDV6 will appear in 2 guises for the Sport. Either a reduced output as the current 3.0TDV6 is and a higher output 3.0TDV6. The Jags are running 275PS, maybe the LR's will too? Plus a new 8 speed gearbox....... 2010MY Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE

Today I had a brief chance to give the new TDV8 a poke on some of the nice twisty-turny billiard table roads over here. Oooh. I'm beginning to see what the TDV8 rush is all about. Every silver lining has a cloud

NJF - looking at the spec of your D3, that's one hell of a school run you've got there...... What does everyone think of HSTs (in stornoway) ?? I keep changing my mind from thinking they look great to far too bling and blatantly 'townie'...(no offence to HST owners!).....? In reality I'll never use the vehicle for much more than greenlaning, towing the odd horsebox/large trailer etc, but are you hindered to any great degree in an HST over a standard HSE..? JT |

Gazzer, Any idea when this may happen if it were to....? Agreed it would make some sense given the Jag options..... I'm trying to work out whether this would have a positive or adverse effect on TDV8 residuals...... JT |

Nothing official. JLR don't talk about the future in public, only the present!
