A trip to the dealer methinks T. You are aware that RRS and D3 engines are very high carbon content and absorb oil. You have to check oil in a new RRS engine ruthlessly until consumption tails off, hence the warning in the fuel filler cap to check every 600kms 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

That area is the joint between engine and transmission.I may be mistaken but, that looks suspiciously like the rear crankshaft oil seal is leaking, or possibly something around the torque convertor leaking, if so, for either it is quite a job I'm afraid, transmission removal, poss drive plate off etc. |

Oil is definately coming from that point, the areas all around are just dust dry. The sump has taken a bit of a hit from the leak, but it is only coming from that one point.

Not sure how they would view this TBH t34, if it's the rear crank oil seal,in my experience these don't usually leak until high mileages have been covered, or oil level has been allowed to get low and wear to the seal has occurred prematurely, or indeed overfilling of oil which overpressurizes causing leakage. Mileage is low, well for a RRS 40k miles. Since the last service 12 months ago it has only done 4k miles, so the 48 month service due now is only as a result of 12 months passing.

I'd see what they say first before cleaning away the evidence, that is not a high mileage at all |

Just a thought but I wonder if the leak might be a breather problem rather than a seal problem?

Bob if that's the case, I'll owe you a pint - really need to know where to look.

Most Land Rover engine/gearbox breathers are led up to the bulkhead or the top of the engine so they are above the wading depth. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tornado, my brother has a pimped Disco and he has used a local LR/RR guy in Stockholm to do mechanical stuff, he is very good on price and a true LR lover. Don't know if that's where you're located but if so send me a PM and I can give you his details. s |
