I've always been a massive petrol head & been fortunate enough to indulge myself somewhat when it comes to cars.

When I was looking to buy a new car for work last year I fell in love with the RRS as soon as I sat in one. The Dealer was desperately trying to get me to drive a TDV8 but I insisted only the 5.0L S/C would do!

Now having had the car for for 4 Months & done nearly 7,000 miles - I'm not sure I'd make the same decision again & am very confident I'll trade it in for the TDV8 when the time is 'right'. Before anyone mentions the cost of running it - that does not factor into my decision.

The truth is my driving style has totally changed in the RRS. Instead of planting my foot down on the Motorways to shoot past any car when the opportunity safely presents itself - I tend to casually cruise along now. I've even noticed I hardly ever overtake on A or B roads anymore. It's nothing to do with the power of the car as it's more than capable of selectively getting past people who don't drive at the speed limits

As a result of this - I'm kind of feeling that I don't 'need' the 5.0L S/C as I don't drive the car that hard. I think i'm getting old! '10 Jaguar XKR Coupe 5.0L Supercharged.

It's the nature of the car mate, I used to have an X5 and drove it at 9 10th's all the time, but since having the RRs my driving style has totally changed, like you I know tend to cruise at the speed limit and don't care if I am overtaken which used to annoy me. 2010 Alaska white 3.6TDi v8, heated steering wheel, Ipod connection, Aribica extended leather, Digital TV, voice activation, privacy glass, Dynamic pack

Yep, know what you mean!!!!! Havin had subaru's, and other rapid cars, I now find myself changing my Jag XF S for a RRS.......never thought I'd see the day!

But then I do still have my Ducati for the adrenaline rush when its dry and sunny!!  Why wait till tomorrow, when today is already here!

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one whose driving style has been changed by the RRS then!!

rabbutler - I also had a 2 year stint in an X5 4.4iSport & like you felt comfortable 'pushing' that car all the time on B Roads - strange isn't it! I do happen to think that the X5 had better on-road manners for the 'enthusiastic' driver - although on balance I prefer the RRS as an everyday car.

I dropped my little girl off at school this morning & made a concerted effort to safely thrash the RRS back to the office afterwards! Put it in 'Dynamic' mode (although can't really see what difference it makes!) & used the paddleshift gear-change in 'Sport' mode on the gearbox. It just felt like 'hard-work' driving this car in that manner - whereas by contrast in an X5 it feels easier.

When the mood takes me on a Sunday & I can make my excuses with the Ball'n'Chain - I take my other car out for a blast as hard as circumstances safely allow & it leaves me feeling exhilerated - not exhausted!

I love the RRS - but will buy the TDV8 next for sure. I just don't feel the 5.0L S/C engine is 'needed' in this car. Just my thoughts really after reading a previous post regarding Supercharged V's Diesel variants! Thought it may put a slightly different slant to the dbate as opposed to the cost of fuel/sound of the engines etc.  '10 Jaguar XKR Coupe 5.0L Supercharged.

This has been discussed before and like you many owners have totally changed their driving style - gone are the boy racer days and say hello to a more calm relaxed way to drive, this car is a step in the right direction of improved road safety.


Of course the other thing is that we're all getting old!  2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

Yep - it is in part becomming an old fart but it is also the fact that it is so comfortable and enjojable - well why rush the experience. Soon, like me you'll start driving the long way home.

The RRS driving style was one of the reasons I chose the RRS over the M sport X5 when I took both for a test run 14 months ago. I have no idea why but I wanted to drive like an idiot in the BMW but enjoyed cruising in the RRS. Don't get me wrong the sport is amazing when pushed hard from time to time and my chipped TDV8 is more than happy at either speed.

I never realised how many idiots there were on the road these days until I slowed down and actually watched them from time to time!

I guess because you have the other car is what makes the difference... I have had two TDV8's and now have the SC and love it!! I guess as you got older you change, so my bike will go for a BMW bike.
