You can put snow chains on the front wheels as per the RRS accessory catalogue, they are available for 18, 19 and 20 inch wheels

I just bought these heavy duty Snow Socks, size 74, to try out on my 275 40 20's.

This way i won't have the problems with the clearance in the wheel arc.

i think socks/chains are good if you can get them on prior to been stuck, in the deep snow pictured

If you find yourself in the same situation i think these would be better as you could slot them top two thirds of the wheel on without having to dig out the snow to get a chain or sock on.

I have chosen the model with 6 straps (picture below)
The video shows a different model, the principle is the same.
This has 6 straps (instead of the 4 on the video), and the interface is larger.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Endjin, up today I have been running on my 20's on the TDv8 and they have coped with everything very well. I'm running on Pirellis that the factory fits as standard and they are down to 3mm tread on one tyre 4 on all the others (confirmed today by the wheel fitter who I asked to check the tread depth now the wheels and tyres are off the car)
I changed to my winter tyres today as I will be going off to the snowy wastes of Central and Southern England again shortly!

The 20's and Grass ,Gravel and Snow setting works well enough unless you are going to venture into some serious snow and ice. Might be worth asking your dealer if he intends to put new wheels and tyres on your old car before he puts it on the forecourt, then make him an offer to buy them and fit a set of winter tyres to the rims. Most winter tyres can be used well into the spring too - up to 7-10c. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Happened to me today in what i thought would be bread and butter conditions for the RRS. I had the same problem, standing still and one of the wheels spinning going no where.

Do these cars not come with a differential to avoid this happening? I'm sure i can remember seeing on the 4x4 screen on my MY10 some padlocks indicating a locking diff but when i've gone back and looked again i don't see these any more. Is there a way you can force power to all four wheels?

Locking diff was a factory extra on mine which I took and I beleive it was a standard fit on the SC.

Seem to recall a lot of people saying it was a waste of money Whistle .........we shall see as I've got to get to work in rural Oxfordshire tomorrow morning.

Jeko says max wheel size 18" and unless I'm wrong yet again the snowsock one doesn't fit our size tyres Big Cry

It's bizarre that there is no LR solution for 20" wheels or is there Question Question Question TDV6 - gone

not 100 percent but sure the diff locks only light up when they are activated all done electronically.

Have been out all day, 18 inch All terrains, GGS mode high range all the way not a problem through deep virgin snow, large hill climbs with good hard compacted snow and some trtacks with large drifts along the way. Used command shift mode on steep descents for engine braking rather than using brakes, worked very well.

A trick used on the TD5 Discoveries was to pump the brake pedal hard and fast as the traction control can become confused and this used to help unconfuse it. Have not had to resort to this yet as the traction control on the RRS is way superior.

Finally if in a sticky situation REMEMBER to switch the DSC control OFF and those who have rear locking diffs as well this will make a bigger difference than those without.

When I put mine in GGS Mode the 2 x green padlocks indicate the diffs are locked.

If you turn the ignition off though - whiost keeping the dial on GGS - When you re-start the car the diffs don't get locked. You have to de-select GGS & then re-select it. '10 Jaguar XKR Coupe 5.0L Supercharged.

Thanks! I didn't know this. My car has been in GSS mode for a few days. Now i know i have to re-select it every time i start!
