The Tail gate on my08 RRS TDIV8 seems half closed like the soft close hasnt engaged to fully close it, but I cant open iy either.
I read on a previous post where a member had an issue with the soft close function but he could open it with the key, I can do neither.
I tried the suggestions given on it which were, holding the lock & open at the same time for 3 seconds, this didn't work.
Also tried holding the 3rd button on the key for 12 seconds, this didn't work either.
When I try and open the tail gait with the button under the handle, only the glass section opens.
Is there any other way to open the tail gate?
I have only had the car for 3 days so still trying to find my way around it.

Would appreciate and help or suggestios given.

Sounds like somebody may have tried to open the upper section as well as the lower. Try pushing the upper section fully closed before trying to open the lower section. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I know there is the button under the handle and the single push button on the tail gate itself.
But now it seems the glass section no longer opens, have tried the emergency tail gate open by pushing and holding the buttons in on the dash still nothing.
The rear wiper is also no longer working, if I new what fuse it was I would pull it out to check.

I dropped the car of at the dealer this afternoon to get them to fix it, have also asked them to check out the front as it also has the knocking sound.
I printed off the Techical Bulletin doc from here and took that with me.
Hope fully get the car back soon.

few times it happened to me especially in the winter. While at the dealer I told them to check the tailgate, and they said there was nothing wrong with it. the only solution I found was to give a kick to the tailgate in the lower part to get it closed. the push doesn't necessarily work so you need to kick harder then everything works fine.
the wiper does not work if your tailgate is open, so there is nothing wrong with the wiper. My name: Patryk

Got it fixed, turned out it was a frozen lock, night in a warm garage and some lubrication fixed it.
Also got the dealer to attend to the knocking that was comming from the front.
Changed some bushes and now quiet as a mouse.
