The other thing about running with them on unnecessarily is that you will have extra load on the alternator and therefore burn more fuel. They also don't come on automatically on my 2007MY TDv8 HSE 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

It doesn't give temperature figure in the manual, just says when it is low temperature, think it might be 5 degrees as that was when the little snowflake symbol used to show before in my 2006 model. Didn't give any indication in the manual if you can turn off this option either, has anyone found out if you can? I think its a great feature, but the last few times it has come on in mine it hasn't been in the least bit frozen. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

It would be easier to press the two switches to turn it on when you need it Good idea but it should be a selectable option really.. Think the heated mirrors are the same, only come on when its cold enough. IIRC pre 10MY they used to come on with the front screen.

Well as I have mentioned in another post I did quite a bit of driving today, stopping and starting a lot and every time I started her up on come all the heaters which you certainly don't need once the car is warmed up.
