just finished fitting mine today. pretty easy after i messed up the first one, the rest were a lot quicker. i didnt pull the spring back when fitting the new handle and just pushed it into place. heard a snap of a clip and now it opens and closes but is not very smooth. Embarassed see how it goes but ill probably replace it. Rolling Eyes

Fitted the door handles this mornings and it seemed quite easy.

I would love to know how you get the covers off without breaking the clips.
I spent 20 minutes fiddling with the first one and still broke one so thought stuff it with the other three... no more damaged at less than 20sec, hehehehe.

The door lock retain design is good, the torx screw only needs to be turned a few times out and acts as a grub screw to pull out the lock... the handle then comes off easy.

A little miffed with the drivers handle since I was really carefull looking for the retaining spring but never saw it anywhere... I heard it go 'ping' as I put the handle back in though...lol
Still seems to work ok so will do just fine without one I guess.

Meant to take my camara to the unit to do a photo blog of the fitting but forgot it (typical) but it was straight forward.

Looks 100% better now it's colour coded, just need to get the outside of my grill done and I will be happy!

Thumbs Up
20 seconds and one clip broken is better than 20 minutes and one clip broken anyway Rolling with laughter
Though apparently there is a way how to do it without braking any, but I did not manage either Big Cry

have replaced all of mine today ... supplied by Charles Hurst (thanks guys) ... broke one on installation ... didn't realise the spring you had to pull was in the door not on the handle ... obvious when you see it !!

Problem .... I undid the TORX screw too far when removing the lock .. and it fell in to the door !!!! took door trim off etc and still couldn't get to it....

Suggestions? Anyone know the spec of the screw so that I can replace it?

well i have done the same as Stephen and lost the torx screw inside the door. What a muppet.

Does any have any ideas of the screw size and can i get it from Halfords or a DIY store.

Going to have a beer and laugh at myself now.

Many thanks

Richard

See if you can get a small magnet on the end of a telescopic handle - they look like a rod radio antenna but with a magentic head 0r if you have a small magnet try sticking it on the end of a thin bamboo cane using a lump of blutack and go fishing inside the door with it! A very large lump of Blutac on the end of a thin cane also makes a good thing to fish inside the door card 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

well i used the magnet on a some string and you know what happened? The magnet stuck to the door and when i pulled it the string broke.

Gave up and went to LR In Reading and found out that you can not get the screw it is the whole lock, but they took the door panel off and got the screw, plus the magnet and fixed it all for a very small fee, really impressed with them.

So if you are doing yopur hnadles, hede the warning and not be a muppet like me, or do it without a bottle of wine Laughing
