TIME TO BRING TO DEALER ??

Hi,

New owner of a RRSport....
So far, fitted 22" Stormers, and new pads all round...

Now, My problems with the car are :-

O/S/F Door doesnt always "lock" properly, and today, O/S/R Door has started doing the same. Also, sometimes they dont "unlock" properly.

Electric Window Switch has broke (top come off it)

Fuel Cap, spring has gone in it... (hard to open)

Also, sometimes the car doesnt seem to sit propely when in access mode, sometimes one of the rears sits down more than the other... or is this the self leveling thing ?

Anyway, Car is 2006, and Warranty runs out in September 2009, so do you think the above are warranty issues ??

Small squirt of WD40 or 3in1 into the fuel flap spring might cure that problem.
Somebody lese reported a problem with locks recently - have you tried doing a search?
The ride height - might have a lower sensor on the way out - take it to the dealer before the warranty runs out - get them to look at the doorlocks too while it's in! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced

All look like warranty issues to me.......except maybe the electric window switch either way dealer will advise....

The not being level when parked is a well documented issue which the dealer will sort Thumbs Up Current: I can't say...Oh the Shame!

Is your car purchased as a Land Rover Approved Used Car Rallyman? Because if it was then the supplying dealer doesn't appear to have done a very good job of the Approved Used checks or prepping the car for the forecourt. Maybe you should take this up with them? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hi Tim,

No, the car wasnt purchased through the dealer network...

I'm just wondering will they be a bit arsey if I bring it in on 22" Non Genuine Stormer Wheels ??

Faults I'm going to pull them up on are:-

Fuel Cap Spring Broke.
Sits Cockeyd in Access Mode.
O/S/F and O/S/R Doors dont lock.
Spare Wheel Mech Seized.

Are you in or out of warranty, because I see on your avatar you have a 2006 car? If in warranty take it to a dealer and try them, if out then get hold of one of the Land Rover magazines in WH Smith and look for an indy in your area, if no joy there then go to www.landrovernet.com and ask if anybody there can recommend an indy in your area. The other place to look is on our sister site www.dsico3.co.uk as many D3's are out of warranty now and I'm sure there are folks there who will be able to tell you of an indy, if you are close enough for him to travel to you the 10forcash is always highly recommended - he's a travelling mechanic who knows how to fix most ills that RRS and D3 suffer from - IIRC he is a registered user here too so you can do a membership search for him 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

As you're still in warranty take it to a LR Dealer to check everything over.

As per the non standard wheels, it depends on the dealer.
My local dealer got a bit arsey when we were discussing Steering wheel shimmy.I had 20's original LR wheels but not supplied by a LR Dealer, bought privately.

They may blame the levelling issue in access mode on your wheels, or they may be reasonable and ignore them. They shouldn't affect the air suspension anyway.

I've had the fuel flap repaired under warranty. As for door locks, spare wheel winch and fuel flap these have nothing to do with your wheels. They will have to repair under warranty.

They can only exclude something due to non standard parts, if it is directly related to the problem.

You never know they might sort out the broken window switch as goodwill, I have had some non warranty work done as goodwill.

Good Luck

When did you notice the problem with access mode?

If it was before changing to the 22s, then it would be worth putting the old wheels back on. Just to make sure the dealer doesn't mess you around and won't look at the suspension.

If it's only happened since the 22s have been on, then I'd leave them on as it maybe related.

To be fair to my dealer, their stance was technically correct, but hardly customer focused. Still, they paid a much bigger price in the end once Land Rover and the Dealer's Head Office got involved. But that's another story.

Your dealer might be a lot more reasonable.

hi,

I'd be tempted to put the 20's back on then, if it's intermittent it may have generated fault codes that the dealer could call up.

So even if you can't recreate the problem they may be able to find out what's causing it. You never know, they may have seen the fault before and know just what to look for.

Some of them know what they're doing. Laughing

Good Luck anyway, my problems are all sorted now. It didn't get too out of hand, but among other things I got two free services, new set of numberplates, choice of loancar (it was in so often, and I returned it once with a puncture right outside the front doors), bluetooth/phonebook upgrade, wheel alignment and full valet. So well over a grand. Thumbs Up

And now they can't do enough for me, and I would actually recommend them.
