I have RTFM on the Nav but......

It says that the orientation of the screen can be changed from which way you are heading (with a small compass icon showing North) to North facing upwards on the screen.

My manual says to change the orientation, touch on the compass icon.....

I can make it do this for the split screen option but not on the main screen.

Am I mis reading the manual, doing something wrong, is my nav busted or am I just being unintelligent? Confused Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

If you are pointing north at the time you probably won't see any change Mr. Green Wink '08 RRS TDV8

You will only see the difference when moving - with the screen with North up, then the map will move across the screen in the same compass direction as the car moves along the road. If you have "Heading up" the map will move from the top of the screen to the bottom and junctions etc are orientated so that what you see on the map is the same layout as you see out of the windscreen. Marine Radars and Electronic Chart Display systems have the same interswitchablity of modes as well. I prefer to have the RRS Nav screen set to Heading up mode and onboard I insist on one of the 4 radar displays also to be run in this mode at night and in fog.

The right hand display of mine changes to head up mode when the main screen is also in this mode and the junctions "turn" as the cars direction changes. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks for the explanation Tim, luckily, as a commercial pilot, I understand the theory of North up or heading up.

My problem is that when I push the compass thingy......nothing happens.

I like heading up so its no drama but after driving my friend's X5 4.8 the other day, I noticed that his was set to North up and I wondered if mine could do the same..... Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

Thanks Shmoo......I can just see it now, a replacement screen with all the attendant risk of trim damage....maybe heading up is OK.... Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

BKHK - I appear to have the same problem, and thought I must be reading the manual incorrectly also. Confused
