Cheers for your reply. Its been helpful and saved me money as I avoided having to pay a Fine on top of the 165% Customs Duty and 50% Penalty that is applied on used cars for N.R.I's (Non Resident Indians). Apologies for late reply as I am this moment travelling in India and have not had acces to the internet till now. Thanks you. |

Don't forget the other 50 percent penalty as well. Thailand has a rate of 600 percent! |

Not surprising!! How do you think my vehicle could cost the equivalent of GBP150,000 (2006 exchange rates)? Actually the exchange rate a few days ago was 72 Rupees to the Pound(GBP). I have a 2007 RRS diesel. Diesels are far easier to sell in India than Petrol. Although if you have Gas conversion that also helps. The 2007 model I have back in the UK has already got a buyer waiting in India for GBP 81,000 pounds. (I have not used a pound sign because here in India the keyboard only has a Dollar sign). |

By the way this does not include the initial purchase price, which is to be added to the GBP 81,000 which is for the import of the vehicle and profit of course. I have not quoted the initial purchase price because the purchase price dictates the amount of duty and penalty applied. |
