Sounds like it could be an actuator issue which will require stealer assistance and recalibration, I know, I had the exact same fault that was SUPPOSED to be on early D3 cars only.......mine was an 06. |

There is an emergency manual release cable under the centre console.

Found the emergency release guys. But I had to remove the plastic around the gear selecctor to get to it, anyway I gave it a good tug!!! (as you do), |
