Or do you mean the magnet may affect the copper in the bell wire. (I suppose it would).

Yes electromagnetic fields do affect radio waves, just look at what happens when you're listening to MW or LW radio in your car and you drive under power lines.

Most run at 2.4 GHz which is the same as most wireless routes. However you can buy some which operate at 5.?? Ghz I think which eliminates this problem. I have both running at 2.4 GHz without issue however AND alongside a cordkless phone base unit next to my router ... go figure!

I have a quad band router it is on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz and can use both bands together to give up to 600Mbs, handy for streaming HD video Thumbs Up
There are 2 other WiFi networks on the street where I live but they are far enough away they don't interfere with me. I don't use those "home plugs" as they broadcast so much RF Sh Censored it that they interfere with my ham radio Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

Oooh be interested to know what sort of router that is. I am about to replace mine and have been with Netgear for the last two routers as my previous dlink was intermittent.

Will be taking 802.11n but if I can flex the frequency range it would be good to isolate it from my tv transmitters in the house and ofc my cordless phone. Please say its a Netgear? WINNER - 2009 Best Newcomer Award

I have been using a Iplate since the end of last year and have seen my BB speed increase by 1.5 Mbs. I did try removing the bell wire connection first (are you sure you have not go this connection? I had and my house was built in 2000) but this only gave a speed increase of 1/2 Mb.

You can get the i-plate from here for £10.32 (including p&p)

Well, I have moved the cordless phone base-station and that has helped............................... the biggest difference though was when I unplugged an LED bedside light that I recently got from Ikea. I knew it was creating some sort of RF interference because when I plugged it into the socket nearest the radio, FM reception disappeared into a wall of crackling! It's the Ikea Jansjo style table lamp http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/20128738 that has a transformer built into the plug............................. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Resurrecting an old thread to try and gain some advice.

Does anyone know if you can get one of these dual band routers that is also an adsl modem? I don't want two boxes in my lounge and I can't find any that have an adsl modem built in as well. WINNER - 2009 Best Newcomer Award

Oh that's a rubbish speed tester you have there.

Try this one. Much more befitting drivers of iconic gentlemen's carriages like us.
