Wozz, we have the same problem here, there's not even a hope of fibre-optics to replace the copperwire cables for the phones coming here in the next 10 years.

But would you trade where you live for a faster net connection? I know I wouldn't Smile WINNER - 2009 Best Newcomer Award

Those things either work or they don't Tim, in my experience.... they don't guarantee an increase in quality and work best on older wiring Thumbs Up

My BB speeds have suffered of late at home, used to be excellent, now just mediocre Confused

Hi Tim,

Have you tried removing the BT Bell Wire. It improved my line speed by 30%.

- Just cut the cable.
- Gave me an extra 1.5MB! Took a few days.

I don't have a bell wire connected, but my broadband seems to be slow of late

I have my homehub on the window sill, and i am only sat 5ft away and it says i am connecting at anywhere between 5mbps and 56mbps, (I know this is just the connection between my laptop and hub, not the broadband speed.)

But my hub if saying a 3.6mb connection to the internet, it speeded up last night when i hardwired it via a cable to the hub. (download speed test went from 0.7mb(wireless) to 1.4mb (wired)

I am wondering if its the new plasma TV causing interferance. The surround sound also has a option for wireless rear speakers too, but i don't have these yet, and i would have to insert a wireless card in to the rear of the unit to enable this. But when i set this up i had to change the channel on the router to get the router working.

Is your homehub near a cordless telephone?
- They play havoc with wifi

Wifi is always slower than a cable too. 2022 P440e AB

Had to change the channel on mine when I moved into my house because I had to site the router next to the master socket and therefore also the phone base station.... and still I have to use a couple of Homeplug sockets to get the network to the far corners of the house Evil or Very Mad

My wireless video sender trashes my wireless broadband totally. These wireless video senders are crap and use a broad spread of frequency right across wireless router frequencies. My father and father in law also have the same issue with their wireless video senders.

Most run at 2.4 GHz which is the same as most wireless routes. However you can buy some which operate at 5.?? Ghz I think which eliminates this problem. I have both running at 2.4 GHz without issue however AND alongside a cordkless phone base unit next to my router ... go figure! WINNER - 2009 Best Newcomer Award

Magentism doesn't affect radio waves (wifi) does it?
- I don't think so...

Or do you mean the magnet may affect the copper in the bell wire. (I suppose it would). 2022 P440e AB
