squeaky wipers

Do your rain sensing wipers squeak a lot when they start after light drizzle? Happens to mine quite a bit - usually when a car passes heading the opposite way and covers my windscreen with light spray. Wipers detect it and Squeeeeeeeaaaaakkkkk across the screen. I reach for the water button, give it a squirt or two and problem solved. Gets a bit tiresome after the dozenth time or so though... Rolling Eyes

On my last car (porsche) when you pressed the flick wipe, it sensibly gave one squirt of window washers first, then did the flick wipe. No squeak. Does anyone know if the RRS can be configured to do the same - washer squirt before starting wipers after an idle period or flick wipe? Or does anyone have a better solution?

I'm with you mate, mine make an awful racket, ALSO my intermitent setting will only go as slow as about 3seconds, I try using the other setting on the stalk to change the waiting time but doesn't seem to work!

Do the RRS S/C have automatic wipers?

Is this a stealer problem?

Cheers

There were LOTS of complaints about the original sets of wipers that went on the cars. MMM, I notice yours is a 2005 model - if you've not changed them since then, LR now supply wipers made from a slightly different compound and are much quieter. Alternatively, there are RainX wipers that folks have also fitted with success.

A search of this forum for noisy wipers will give you the history Thumbs Up

found the old threads now - just spent ages going through them and sounds like the best solution was the new improved LR wiper blades part number DKC500150 - so I'll try those when it goes in for service in a few months and put up with it until then.

Frozen of Wiltshire Believe me I don't mind which way you bend. Wink Wink

Seriously I have had two sets of wipers the new code number ones as well, both squeaked after a while. My car has just come out of the workshops after some warranty work, I mentioned the squeak to the service manager his reply no worries a little bend and they will be fine.

THEY ARE NOW. Bow down Bow down Bow down

The bend the arm slightly I think.

ok, read something about that too. The angle the rubber hits the glass causes the squeaking and apparently twisting the blade to adjust that sorts it. Sounds like something I will delegate as part of the service before I snap off the wipers trying it.

Windscreen Wipers - Aaargh!

Been having the same problem with windscreen wiper noise (squeaking badly) that a few other members have been having.
At first I thoroughly cleaned both the windscreen AND the wipers - there was an immediate improvement but not for long.

I just bought some 22" RAIN-X wipers. The drivers side fits perfectly - but for some reason (probably finger trouble on my behalf) the passenger side don't!
Only about two-thirds of the blade touches the screen - the other third just sticks up!
Could somebody please tell me what I might be doing wrong? !!
Sorry to be so dim!

BTW - it's a 2007 RRS S/charged.

Thanks alot

M
