Im considering buying a car from Spain which is UK registered and an 08 plate ,the seller has passed the car to a shipping company ,who seem big and genuine (transportes guimar) ,Im being asked to pay the shipping company the vehicle value into an escrow account ,where once I receive and accept the car the money transfers to the seller ,anyone see any potential pitfals

I recall something similar to this on here before where the buyer backed out for good reason - I am no good with search so cannot help but how much are you saving, is it worth it?

IIRC there was great reason for concern or even a burn story....

Hookey shipping company and bogus escrow the obvious pitfal....

Why would a 'shipping company' buy a car .... (and so new at that)

Someone here will find that thread and highlight earlier issues - personally - i'd stay clear - if it looks to good to be true etc etc ....

Also - what are you looking for - some really good deals in the UK at the mo - drop CHPR or Kam a line for details....
